Sleeper? I dunno, I guess, I always figured a sleeper had to be completely stock looking, but yeah I guess so, with everything hidden underneath, I'll probably be able to surprise a few people, but I'm still not going to be screwing around on the roads.
Anyways, I bought the heart of the whole thing today.... so now its on like donkey kong
For the budget concious among us, I'm keeping a running total, but I'm not releasing it until I'm done, although I would advise picking a less expensive turbo if true budget streamlining is a major issue.
The only goal I have is to have the whole thing in the car and running for less than $3K. As it looks right now it should be more like maybe $2500, but thats as far as I'm going with dollar amounts.
My horsepower goal is simple. More than it has now. I don't have a number in mind, but the vacinity of 165-185 (WHP) is what I'd speculate. Thats as far as I'm going with that as well. I have kind of a loose set of goals, oh well, I do have a plan.
The intercooler is my current hangup. The sidemount idea is a definite go, its just the size constraint thats getting me right now. My hope is to be able to have as little piping as possible, so I'm trying to make the intercooler as large as I can and fit it in there, Top and bottom tanks, with the inlet coming out of the turbo, elbowing and going into the bottom, and making it tall enough that the exit from the top tank can point towards the firewall and connect to a pipe that goes perpendicular to the fire wall, over and into the TB. All of maybe 5 feet of plumbing. I'm planning on hacking out the fog light hole and running a duct through there, a considerable amount of air actually flows around the radiator through the side of the opening down there, and I'm going to re-rig the under tray with a scoop to force air up from under the car somehow. The duct work is all secondary considerations to getting the whole thing in the car first. I bet it'll take all summer to be completely and honestly done.

I may take the car to Altered Atmosphere in Gaithersburg. I know they're an authorized greddy shop and they have a dyno, so its probably my best bet. I don't know of all the shops around here, so if you got recommendations, lemme have em, I'm all ears.

Because my oil cooler and filter is in the way, I don't want to move it, and I don't want anyone to know whats under there, it makes the car much more apetizing to steal.
In addition, I live in downtown DC, I have to park on the street. People don't know how to parallel park and often stop when they figure out that their car is touching yours. So I don't want someone to smash the piping or the intercooler itself.

well if you know some place else, then tell me. I doubt discount.... Rob says they're asses but they know what they're doing.
I guess if car A got tuned well and they dropped that map into car B and it took 10 minutes to tune car B properly, maybe, but I think they charge you like $85 just to put it on the dyno, I don't know how the time works.... you'd think if you brought the car in with a decient street tuned map first then they could fine tune the e-manage to run real well very quickly.

my welding is in pretty good order thankfully. I got someone who can make me an intercooler and the steel stuff is under control with a friend.
