turbo break in?
ok so if I drive the car hard, how long would I have to leave the car started before shutting it off, I was told 30 secs - 1 min, but someone told me 5 min and I was like
as of yet I have no turbo timer nor thinking about putting one in.

30 sec to 1 min is ideal. Anything over that will actually be worse cuz there is no cool air rushing into the engine cuz you are not driving. The hood will actually retain the heat of the engine bay. If i go on long trips i let it idle for about 2 min with the hood open.

Id say 30 sec to a minute would be ok, but if I was you I would definatly would get a turbo timer makes life so much easier, just turn the car off and let the timer do all the work.

lol... I know I should get turbo timer but I dont want to bypass the car... dont you have to leave your key in the car too to bypass immobilizer?
I had remote start and had to leave key in the car then decided that remote start wasnt worth it so I took out my remote start.
Ive been driving my brand new turbo hella hard, hope that wont ruin anything. Its so hard to stay off boost.

I know what you mean about boost being addictive. As far as bypassing the Immobilizer umm Im not sure being as I have a Subaru now. As far as mine went HKS made a plug n play harness for mine where I just snipped one wire so I could use my keyless to lock the car when I got out and once the timer finished the factory alarm would be active. Im not sure if they make a harness for the civics but you might try and go to a local performance place in your area and ask them if they could do it, which Im sure there is a way.

yeah, 30 sec-1 min is perfect. But like he said, If I drive more than an hour or two at a time, and its hot as hell in az anyways, than I let the car sit for a little longer with the hood open. If I am feeling a whole bumch of heat when i get out, I will open the hood as well just to take the heat off.
and agreed, the title had nothing to do with the topic. But I would wait at least a full tank of gas befoer stepping on it. It was easy for me, cuz I was too chickensh** at first to break anything.

and drive nicely to get everything heated up, tighten it back down after a full tank of gas. Dont drive hard if you just installed it. Wait at least a tank of gas, than tighten everything back up, and boost away. thats what I did to be safe, you dont want to break your new setup already.

I dont really have a clue to be honest. I used the PNP harness and was told to snip the wire for it to work, if there was a turbo 7thgen in my town I could find out for you but theres none. Theres got to be a way to wire it up like mine, what TT are you using ?

I have the one that came with the TSI kit. Its just one of the functions of this little unit. You would have to see it, and work with it to figure it out. Its all good though, thanks anyways. I can live with it, but someday Ill figure it out.
