Turbo Blow-off Valves
Turbo Blow-off Valves
I am sure you all have seen the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious. Do you remember the part at the beginning when Brian drives up in his Skyline, drops the clutch, revs the engine, and his blow-off valves go off out the side of his fenders?
Does anyone know what kind of setup it takes to do that? I am no-where near ready to add turbo to my car, but when I do I want something like that.

Can you get that type of "reaction" from a turbo blow-off valve or would it have to be a nitrous purge kit? I really like the affect of whichever product is creating the mist, but no way am I doin nitro.

There is some sort of "pfffff" sound from the turbo when you shift. Forget the movies, it happens in real life. I am simply askin which part of the turbo is causing that noise?

I feel bad for u because i was also once in ur position, where i didnt know ANYTHING, but its like this. Remember in Fast and the Furious when Vin Diesel and that white guy got pulled over by those asian bikers, and they shot up his car, Cin Diesel screems "NOS!!!" and the car blows up, (BTW your car wont blow up like that with nitrous) well that "NOS" is whats used to make ur car go faster, when u press a button, it sprays nitrous into ur engine, making it faster. That stuff spraying out the side of his car was nitrous gas. They used a Purg Kit (sp) to make that happen, its used to take out any air in the lines so all you have is nitrous in the lines. It wasnt a blow off valve for a turbo, what that is used for is when u have an excess amout of pressure in the pipes that hold all the extra air going into ur engine, it releases from the blow off valve so ur engine doesnt blow up.
Hope this helps you out.

BOV.........Air is being forced into your throttle body. When you shift or let off of the gas, the throttle plate closes and the excess air is released via the BOV.
The white plume that u see from the skyline is called a purge valve. In n2o set-ups u can install a purge kit that allows you to bleed out the lines of any excess air to ensure that you get a pure shot of n2o.

Great thing about life is that we all get a chance to be individuals (especially in the U.S.). We are pretty much free to do whatever we want. Some people care what people think about them, others don't. I am one of those who could care less what other people think. If I like something, I am going to get it (or do it). Unless someone else wants to start payin my billz, my opinion is the only one that really matters.
