MODS to 300hp??
i was wondering what i would have to do in order to get around 300hp??my turbo kit will be getting installed soon..but thats not going to do it..lower compression pistons. rods. whats else?? cause by the spring i want my car to be atleast 300. my friend was telling me to get a crank pulley cause they add some with a turbo but i was reading abotu them on here just to see what poeple had to say and that is a no go..dont need problems with that..thanks

PnP, build it, more boost, bad *** tuning
edit: built engine... pistons/rods, turbo cams, valve springs etc
total price w/o turbo probably around 3-5k if its done right with quality parts.
also i would look around the FI section b.c this has been discussed there with several members like opto and never forget to search

I don't think the chassis can handle 300hp either. Talk to guns, he is pushing around 240 to the wheels now. It will cost you, i will tell you that much.

youre looking at head work, lots of custom work for the bottom end. chances of finding rods/pistons to suit your need that are already on the market for the d17 are slim. not sure if thats accurate anymore, but there are definitely not many choices tho. you might have to bore and/or stroke the bottom, or get a custom stroker kit. probably blueprinting the motor. chances of all this getting done by spring are probably not really realistic. i doubt you want the motor to blow up, and this isnt something you rush when you have so much custom parts made.
this is just the motor, besides that youre gonna have LOTS of things to worry about like computer, fuel delivery/management, cooling. good luck.
I just saw a 500 whp d16 on honda-tech. Pretty badass setup using a t3/t4 and running 33 psi. It can be done on the d17 to but for 300whp your going to need a descent size turbo like a t3 and youll need to build the engine (sleeves,pistons,rods...etc). Youll also need a good fuel system the rsx injectors and pump will prob be enough there are 300whp rsx's using the stock injectors and pump. Youll need something like an emanage and get the support tools so you can tune the engine. Theres alot of stuff youll need this is just a list of the basics cause if you have a kit and it doesn't have some of the key componets listed above you might want to rethink your descision.
pbfoot i dont think any headwork would be needed on a built engine to hit 300whp. Also there are several companies making internals for our engines so dont post saying that custom work is going to be needed when i have a set of forged je pistons and eagle rods sitting hear infront of me that are made for our engines. If your gonna put 300whp to use in a 7thgen be prepared to beef up the tranny(cyro treated, steel syncros..etc), driveshafts, suspension, and brakes at least to handle the abuse and handle it safely.

k thanks man..very helpful...i just want to see what i can do with this...cause i have a turbo setup waiting for install...but ill only be able to run stock boost which is fine with me..but idk i want to be able to aleast turn the boost up 10 psi..nothing too crazy..cause if all you guys are saying it will cost mad loot and im going to need all sorts of parts to make it work..i guess i should start off small and work at this car..so would i need to upgrade alot of parts just to run 10pd. of boost?

still depends on what all you do. I am driving around on ~235 whp daily. Its a relatively low boost setting (7 psi) and just well tuned. I pre-program in a safety, so if i go past my 8 psi preset, my car goes soo rich it tries to die. So boost spikes are not a problem for me. When i go to the track, i load in my race-tune, turn the boost up to 11-13 psi, and run bottom 13's. With the new intake manifold and throttle body we will be coming out with soon, i hope to break 12's. My goal is a mid 13 second pass on my street tune.
Now i know as a fact that you can take the stock motor, port the head, and put some boost to it with a radical tune and make 300 whp. But i really wouldnt recommend it more than 1 time. Its pretty hard on the motor.
If i were to build the motor for a daily driver, it would include:
sleeves
rods
pistons
head studs (since you already have the motor apart, why not?)
port work
cam
cam gear
pulleys
intake manifold
throttle body
fuel rail
some sort of EMS
Good STREET clutch (not a 6 puck)
and some tires that dont hook up too well
I know that the tranny will start to make odd noises if you have a combination of lots of power, aggressive clutch, and sticky tires.

and exturbo, i might be wrong again, but IMO it will be a stretch to have both a 300whp honda civic that is not only streetable but a daily driver.
