Question hg blown, head warped?

I just blew my headgasket. I also know some others on this site did too. Did you dudes get the head checked out to see if the head was warped or in anyway damaged? My dad damaged his head on his 86 supra when his hg blew and he said i might have an issue with mine. Most people that ive seen or heard on this site just replace the hg and go. But is the head damaged or did you get it checked?

it should only be warped if it was overheating for a while ...

I did it three times. But never let it just overheat. As soon as it got a little hot I shut it down. Did it get hot and overboil or did it completely overheat and run dry.

Take it from me after a year of boosting. Double stack the headgasket to lower compression and use new headbolts torques down an extra 3-4lbs. I ran 14psi lean and mine held after I got smart about it and doubled up to lower the compression.

The stock headgasket is single layer and pops around 8psi. Use two leakless tripple layer Nippon headgaskets.

The stock headgasket is now a Nippon leakless. Honda changed about this time last year. Before that, it was an organic/paper/crap gasket, now it's metal and rubber.

new head bolts, get them new everytime u take the head off, and then if u use more than one head gasket its going to require a different torque amount than stock, basically torque it down to stock setting the first time, then the headgaskets are going to matte together and require another torquing

specs are 49lbs of torque on the bolt. I used 52lbs. No problems. I just used three steps. 20lbs, 30lbs and then 52lbs. Not oem specs but it worked

Just get the ARP studs,
they are reusable.
