POeple with turbo kits
I have a tsi t28bb turbo kit sitting in my room...now i wanna install it but my friend has been telling me that it isnt worth it cause i wont get that much hp gain.and wont be that reliable. is this true. i mean poeple who have a turbo on the ex civic what do you think, or anyone in general?
my mods as of now:
underdrive pulley's
header 2 1/2 piping to apexi dunk
cam gear
CAI
lowered 2'
rota's nicely wraped
crank pulley at end october
i mean would a turbo give me a nice HP gain..if so how much do you guys think? also i have a nitirous kit sitting in my room. now if i go turbo i dont want the nos, but if i dont go turbo im putting the nos in. but thats besides the point. i just want to know if its worth installing or just trying to sell the turbo kit. im thinking about buying a sti coming next fall..

On stock engine you would get around 50-60HP, and on modified anywhere from 100Hp and more. If you really want to make it faster get K20 engine from RSX, RSX Type-S or K20 Type R motor with 220HP and then get turbo for that motor. And you could make it a really quick car, you could run 11's or better depending on internal engine modifications.
i'm not a turbo owner yet... in the process of saving, but i hear if you strengthen the internals enough you can boost a significant amount and get some nice gains. i saw a dyno sheet on here earlier today, and someone was pushing 250, they were pushing like 14 psi i think though. its either that or a swap for any significant gain, or of course the bottle. from what i've read, building the internals keeps you from tearing up your gear, that and just making sure your not slamming it at every light, and run a moderate amount of boost like 6-7-8, might be able to run more, i'd check out the force induction forum, has a huge list of articles.

dude take it from me, ive had nitrous on our cars, and i just slapped a turbo on. first off the nitrous is gay, i had mine on there for about a year and i never ran the same time twice at the track, nitrous is inconsistant and a pain in the ***. you got to keep refilling the bottles and it gets old. plus, you cant drive around with the bottle open all the time, so if you pull up next to someone that wants to go, your out of luck cause your bottle is not open, and on top of that, remote openers are like 400.00! so i sold the nitrous and put a stafford fabricaton turbo kit on about 2 weeks ago. its the best money ive ever spent. i got a custom exhaust and underdrives, i havent ran numbers yet but im thinkin i gain a whole bunch. one piece of advice tho, get a fuel management unit, and replace your head gasket and headbolts. i already blew mine and ive had the kit 2 weeks.

what fu is an sti, everyone has them..really...i dont see too many sti's around where i live..everyone has honda's, and wrx's. no sti's. and i think it would be fun as ****. just to know i start with 300 hp and with basic mods im outie! idk ive been talking to my boy and he's getting a evo and i want the sti. it just seems worth waiting and selling the turbo..my motor ists built to handle that type of power and to even do so it takes mad loot to get it to stand over stock hp. i htink ill just get a crank pulley and put my new ecu in and keep it real with the bolt on's. have some fun with this and then its AWD all the way

and as for swaping a k20 in this car..HELL NO!!!!! 5Grand for this and theres still no torq. byt he time i got the swap and turboed it and then money spent on that..thats 10 grand i have less to pay for a sti

i see no point in howmuch money it will take to make a honda fast when i can get a can stock that is fast and comes with everything you need..idk if you got a fast honda more power to you, but you have to upgrade everything..and yes i heard that poeple were blowing trannies within the first month or 1,000 miles. thats no worth it either...i just cant see myself wasting money like that..i want to be able to beat the bag out of zo6's and all that **** out there..and a honda cant do that unless its on a roll and you spend some crazy *** $

Its funny I see so many people on here saying "oh Im going to get an Sti or a G35 or an Evo" Well I only count about 3 people who have said that and went and actually got the car.. If you know you can't afford it then don't say it and try to impress us because the only way you do that is to go and buy the car.

The tranny will hold upto 300whp. The spider gears are what goes under extreme pressure. No one has tried to install the qualif LSD yet to see if it even fits our cars. It is just too expensive plus alot of labor. I have been boosted for a year and have run everything from 5psi at first to a 16psi spike about 6 months ago. My compression is still fine and no signs of wear except for a little smoke from the turbo.
hondas dont need all that cash to make them go fast.
turbo kit lets say 4 grand with gauges
upgraded internals 2 more grand upgraded tranny lets just say one more grand for 7 extra grand you can be running 13's add on another 3 grand in other parts ncooler things like that tunning time
lets say its on a lx 15+7=3 = 25 grand you could have a low 13 to high 12 second car for that price wich will beet alot of the stock turbo cars out there that run for at least 25 grand. and the best part of it is you have a sleeper and you put all that time and work into a car to make it your own

PnP head, cam and other things for another $1,500 and you are at 250whp.
For the price of a K20A3 swap you have a solid 13sec / high 12sec car.

For less than $20k you can be out there making other $30k cars look bad. Just do it right the first time or you will get good at changing head gaskets.

o i give you credit..i dont know..just seems like there are more possiblities of something going wrong thats all..cause honda's arent made for high hp..there econemy cars..but whatever..ill be getting a new car in the summer or fall of next year..so i am not talking ****..i got a full time job as a computer programer so i can afford it..just dont want to blow it now..rather have awd and a car that has more potential..

all i gotta say is this... if you are a true race enthusiasts then you would buy a civic and build it straight up with ur own hard earned money and u build it the way u want to.. uts customed to what u do to it and so forth...if you put in $5000 worth of sheit and the same guy next to u put in on ly $500.. then u know whos care is either faster or nicer... i see as wrx's.. sti's.. and srt's as the easy way out... its really easy for someone to go out and buy one of these and say hey... i got a turboed car...now lets say u and ur friends both buy i/h/e... it makes no sense cause u both are running relativetly close to the same hp as the next guy.... parts for those cars cost almost twice as much and are not that easy to find when compared to parts for civics....yea by the time im done with my car it would be the cost of the wrx and sti.. but at least my sheit is customed to how i want it and not the way it came out of the factory

Whoever said that honda motors aren't made for high horsepower has not seen the IRL. Honda whomps on everybody there always top 5 in the races. Yeah I know not the same engine as commercial vehicles but the same engineering went into the motor.
Id rather have a POS looking car that was faster than anything on the road.
STI's,EVO's are fine. But for those of us who can't afford them we'll make due with what we got.
I say put the kit in your civic and sell it boosted. You can get more money for it.
