Ok, for the last few days my car has been overheating while at idle. I went to riceburnrEx`s house today to do a compression test, and found out that my hg is blown. 1) 185 2) 185 3) 160
4)185. So im in the market for a new head gasket. Just wanted to share my experience, if you have turbo civic and you havent blown the hg, it would be a good idea to get a new one any way, just my 0.03 cents.

Just these last few months ive cranked up the boost from 4 to 6psi. At 4 psi i put down 155whp. So for the last, ide say 2 months i have been running 6 lbs. I have not gotten it dyno tuned at 6psi yet...(because of the **** that just happened) Ive heard that the 01-02 civics have a paper hg, the 03 and up have the aluminum rubber nippon gaskets. So with proper tuning i think they would stand less of a chance blowing the hg.

Right now i am running a stock honda head gasket that i purchased after SCE gave me one of their .088" vulcanized head gasket that didnt fit (was made for a 00, figured i would give it a try). I run my head bolts at about 60 ft/lbs. And through all the testing we have done, and the 5.5-7 psi daily driving and 13+ psi racing (and one dyno at 16+ psi), i havent blown it yet.
Dave hickman claims to have gone 9's on the stock head gasket in his yellow race car.

The one I pulled out of my spare motor and according to Honda's part description was an organic paper combination gasket, which has since been replaced by the Nippon leakless. If you had an 01 or some 02's you might have the paper gasket, any after 02 or any you can buy at a dealership will be the nippon leakless.

Thats just the thing:
the car only over heats at idle
No smoke or coolant drainage from the exhaust
No oil mixing in the coolant
The only way we knew for sure was the compression check. And the smell of coolant when we pulled spark plug number 3.
