AEM needs a 7G EX for EMS Testing!
AEM is looking for someone to loan them a car with a STOCK D17A2 so they can do the basemap for the new EMS.
It has to be SoCal only and they want it for a week.
Check this thread for details:

Before anybody asks, the reason they want a stock car is because the basemap needs to be confirmed that way. They may want a turbo D17 at some point but not right now.

It just happens that a K20 ECU is almost pin to pin compatible with a D17 computer. AEM has taken this into account on the 1070 and they need to do a final base map.
I had one of the earlier prototypes on my car but can't do the testing anymore since I swapped out the D series.
So to answer your question, they are not holding up the K20 swap ECU for validation on a D17 7G, it's just a knock on feature that really helps the 7G community. Scheduled release is December, give or take a month.
I am glad to see that real parts are coming for us but how good would this be for both N/A and FI 7th Gens... also would it be a direct replacement for our ECU's etc...... A bit more detailed info would be great..
