Aem Ems
Wow... been gone from this forum for a while, great to see so many boosted 7th gens. A year ago, I was one of the first, I'm happy to see that there are many more, and some that are doing so well at the track and dyno.
I've been working with the AEM EMS on a few different cars, and have fallen in love with the system. It looks like the best bet to control our engines, especially with the direct coil computer controlled ignition... so many options would be there for power and safety under boost at higher RPM's. However, AEM seems to be holding back production... at first they promised me they'd ship it by January, and the date has been postponed. What I'd like to do is see how many people here would be interested in getting the AEM EMS for their cars, and show AEM that there can be large demand for our cars, as many companies think that it's not worth their time to develop products like this for the 7th gen.
If this goes well, possibly a group buy could be in the works, and that can dramatically lower prices.
So post up if you're interested, and let's see if we can speed the release/set up a group buy!

IMO its not worth it all that much based on price alone, 1350 for the box, plus more if u want the wideband, and then tuning is a whole nother story, xs engineering charges 2500 bucks for that shiz, it comes with dyno time but my god, dynamic autosports charges 1500 w/ some dyno, and then my shop charges 1200 for tuning so ur talkin 2500 at the least and like 4k at the most, what is this group by looking like

If we can get enough participation in the group buy, expect the EMS price to be around $1200-$1300, and additonal sensor prices (the wideband, boost control solenoids, and new map sensor) to be reduced as well. Exact pricing can't be determined until we know what kind of order it will be, and how much AEM will work with us. They recently did a group buy for the Supras, and their EMS was $1150 each, with $400 additional for the 5 bar map sensor, the EGT kit, and the UEGO wideband o2 kit.
It is a lot of money, but when you get to building an engine and running a lot of boost (or running a lot of boost with a stock engine), a standalone of some kind is almost a necessity to have a safe and well running engine.

They've got a price listed for the EMS... and many distributors have it on their web sites... but from calling the distributors and from calling AEM directly, they keep delaying the release. It's happening a lot with the 7th gen parts, that's why I'd like to get some support to show them that if they make the products, people will buy them.
my buddy has it in his 00 si boosted! it is a great thing all it is missing is a turbo timer built in it. Sean McElderly (i think that is his last name) tuned his Si and ran it on the dyno. his dyno was 252 @10psi. Sean will fly out the wherever you are and tune your EMS Anyone of them he is trained for AEM, Hondata, Motec, Apexi, you name it he knows it.

You need to go to the AEM website and join the EMS forum. I did a long time ago. Anyway, if a bunch of people show that you want it for this car, they will speed up the process. Other websites brought people on there to do the same thing. I'm sticking with the E-manage though. The AEM EMS is nice, but has too many features a ton of us would never use or have the need.
But damn... it's nice to see you back on here RiceburnrEX. I changed the name (aka Smokie2k2LX). Finally got my stuff done lol, after a year of trying to put it together.

I'm on AEM's forums as Turbo D17, been really active in the Supra forums (club project car)... but whenever I try to mention the 30-1030 unit (ours) they gloss it over or just reply "We're working, but it's status has been pushed back due to increased demand for another product". That's why I'm trying to get a support base here to show them that their R&D expenses are worth it for our car.
I had thought about the E-Manage, but I'm the kind of person that wants every available feature... and after seeing the AEM do traction control, full throttle shifting, anti-lag, and many other really kickass things on a car, I knew I had to have it.
Glad to see you got everything working, there's nothing like boost!
