Turbo or Supercharger
I have an 02 ex (auto) and I work for a shop called Ripp Modifications some people might of heard of it. They build custom superchargers for 6g72 Eclipse, 3000 GT, Lancer, Stratus, and the new Tiburon. And so on, from Vortech superchargers. Supossidly I heard they are making one for our d17's. Should I wait till it comes out, if it does come out or should I go turbo, I want either before next summer...If anyone wants more info its Rippmods.com

nash i think i might have to disaggree. i heard that in our cars they can swing well either way. but im just a noob and thats just what i heard around. i wanted to supercharge mine as well.
essentially they are both doing the same thing.....more air.....one helps you right off the line the other needs to get spooling and kicks in later....there are no superchargers for our car, as of now from what i know, i doubt anyone will make one but i could be wrong

they are not gonna do it so dont get your hopes up people. there is too much work involved in custom fitting a supercharger to make it financially reasonable over turbo.

Are you sure a Vortech (if available) wouldn't fit? It didn't look that big in the 6thgen SiR

In the end... for the amount of money spent and the amount of boost run... turbos are faster and safer.
Superchargers are parasitic belt driven devices, turbos use energy the engine has already gotten rid of in the exhaust stream. Turbochargers (unless you get one that's the size of your pinky) will flow more CFM at a MUCH less heat level. More CFM=more power, and colder air=more power. It's not just PSI that makes power. Turbos have better gas mileage since you are not even in boost unless you're really on it.
True... superchargers have no lag, but then again, neither does a ball bearing turbo with a 2 step rev limiter, good boost controller, and a good driver.

yep go with a turbo. they are more tunable and will produce better gains then a supercharger. my friends come to me with these questions all the time. it just comes down to what you want. with a supercharger its less maintence and will give you a little boost in power. especially when you upgrade the pulley and stuff like that. turbos do require more maintence, but also can create more hp and torque. torque is something every honda guys needs...and something i cant get enough of. hopefully this might shed some light on your decision making process.

superchargers are more geared towards a 6 or 8 cylinder engine because they already compress a ton and they need the low end power...you need the high end of a big turbo say 12-16 psi
but personally I would reccommend a swap for you...your d-series motor just simply doesn't displace enough to make any real power...make some all motor power with internals and overboring, then boost...
