tsx k24
alright punks... i have been looking around and all this talk about the k24 in our car... who here has one? i seriously need to talk to someone about this/./.
haha.. speaking of which.. i was at the shop and we were all talking about that cause one of my friends bought a tsx with a k24 in it... right now the shop is looking into getting a k24 and maybe.. just maybe wew might go through with a k24 swap.. right now were looking into what the difference in setup swap compared to a k20 and the difficulty
reason why is because the tsx comes wit a trottle by wire and an ecu that isnt compatible wit other k series mtrs and to make the swap easier u would need rsx-s or si trottle body and im then u need to design a block off plate or plug for the erg port on the tsx head since it will be exposed wit the tsx head. So basically a pain in the *** might as well just do the k20a2/k24 swap and get the k24 off the 02+crv

maybe you should contact hasport. I wouldn't custom weld them, but if you do...Good luck, and keep us posted

There is a guy on Clubrsx.com that did the TSX K24 swap in his RSX. Look it up and PM him. He can tell you what he did about the TB cables and such. Its a start.

i have already checked into it...i called hasport and they said that they do have a k24 sitting in a 7thgencivic....the only difference is one motor mount from that of the k20...everything else, you use the k20 stuff...hasport offers the wiring and they are planning to release the motor mounts to the public within the next 2 months...i already have my deposit down on my k24
Not sure what your final plans are but you should know that a TSX/K24a2 will be harder to find and more expensive, compression is 10:5:1, throttle-by-wire will not work for you.
Now a K20a2 Head on a K24 block with Hondata will give you 9:6:1 and no hassles!

hmmm cool
i heard hasport is also thinkign about B series mounts.
would a b series swap be comparable to a k20 swap in terms of power?
plus wats the scoop on the B series i dont know much about them. likes specs and etc.

B series is old ... K puts out much more tq and more hp.
imo, I am not impressed by k24/k20 numbers ... one guy with an rsx-s had that swap with kpro and some mods ... 216 whp, 156 wtq.
k20a with i/h/e/hondata puts down the same numbers ... but since the k24 is actually cheaper, that is probably the better way to go. thinkin realistically...
k24 - 2900 shipped
k20a2 head - ~1300 shipped
toda head gasket - ~150?
total: 4350
but why the hell would you put a k20a2 head on a tsx longblock? ... the tsx head already has 3 lobe vtec. maybe it flows better, but is it worth the $1000+ for what, 5-10 hp? you can just p&p the k24 head for that much.
why a toda headgasket? so it'll raise your compression by .4, which will bring your compression to 10.9 ... which is close to the 11.0 compression that your motor will be accustomed to working with
if you get stuck with an auto tranny tsx (which are fairly common on ebay) then you should add like another $1-1.2k for a type s tranny ... which would bring your total to around $5450 for motor parts ...
you should use kpro since your motor is gonna be running a bit funny with the frankenstein ... another $1k ... brings your total to $6450
factor in labor ... $1k ... $7450
motor mounts ... $600
Si radiator ... $150
Si axles ... $150 (I'm sure tsx axles won't fit)
misc. parts ... $150
swap-fitting sri intake: $30 for ebay intake
cutting your current custom exhaust ... $25?
GRAND total : potentially $8555!!
other notes ... let's hope the tsx header fits. apparently the eg/ek civics can't use the jdm dc5r header, and they need to use the tsx header. so the tsx might not fit the swapped 7thgen's. if the tsx header doesn't fit, you're gonna have to shell out more money for a header.

As of right now it would difficult to use a TSX tranny in a Civic. It has very different mounting attachments. We're working on it though.
On the other hand, the new mount for the K24 engine should be out in about a month.

thats the setup the crx k20 with ITB is going on .. so ive heard.. theyll make sick times with a ful drag setup.. keep in mind the crx that is hitting low 11's is faaaar from anythign close a real drag setup.. once they turn up the heat.. theyl make a big impact in the pro level..
