SF FMU took a dump

Well I've only put about 600 miles on it and already my FMU stopped working. I was driving home last night around 2:00. I got about 2 blocks from my house and noticed that the FMU was making a sort of gargling-sputtering noise. I pulled over right away and shut off the car and popped the hood (turbo timer still going). It continued to sputter for a few more seconds then went quiet. I haven't looked at it real closely to see and cracks or breaks but it looked normal when I gave it a once over.

Any suggestions on what to try? Anyone know who makes the pump, maybe I could just swap that out? I highly doubt Mike would warranty this (I'm not his favorite customer at the moment) and I'd rather avoid the hassle of waiting 2 months to get a new one. Can I just say f*** it and buy the RSX injectors or would that be too rich with no return setup?

It's the VORTECH fmu, and that sucks how it went out already. Is the car still working? Wow. And you really need to switch to return-style fuel system to safely use bigger injectors (if they fit) and adjustable fuel regulator.

From my experience I have never known a FMU make noises. FMU is just designed to increase pressure in the fuel system. It's the job of the fuel pump (Inline fuel pump for you possibly) to pump the fuel into the combustion chamber.

Wow. Your fuel pump died already? That's almost worse. Is it an SF or OEM part?

Wow, top quality stuff. So if I took it to a local shop they could probably find me something more reliable and that would fit correct? Anyone know what flow rate I should look for?

I got one too, putting it on tonight. I'll let you know if it's any quieter. Can't be much louder than SF's.

Thanks again Jeff.

Venom makea s fuel pump for our cars
part # HP 710 310 about $200,00
They also make FMU Venom 400 about $350.00 but it advances the timing (not good for turbo set up)

Good luck
