Just switched from 87 to 89 mobil after the ported head install, just in case compression went up.

How do you like the turbo?

turbo is great......... i'll never go n/a again

i am having problems with boost spikes, i am set at 8-9 psi, but i have hit 12-13 psi many times. There were times when i would reach 12psi at 3500 rpms........i had to ease the throttle so i wasn't boosting that much.

whoa ... careful ... some high octane gas is leaded ... a lot of gas over 105 octane has lead in it

what the ****? ... 450 miles with an EX and boost? ... when my car was turbo'ed, I got 260 miles for 11 gallons ... -_-;;;

running the 110 would be okay only if you don't have a cat... 110 is usually leaded and leaded fuels like to eat up you cat...

higher octane gas allows you to run either:

1. more compression
2. more boost

why?
The higher octane rating on the gas resists pre-mature detonation during compression. That is good for many reasons.

But on a stock civic, its just a waste of money because 87 octane won't prematurely detonate during compression.

when it is spiking is it making this whooooshing noise, mine was spiking, at one point, and its all in the TUNING, AS USUAL, DONT run the high octane gas unless u need to, 8-9psi, sunoco 94 is just fine.....at the rate gas prices are rising, 5 bucks a gallon wont seem to much

i'm running 91 right now, and i'm gonna dump two bottles of 10point octane booster on it to run 93 we don't have any gas stations here that sells 91 and higher octane, but I'm not sure if this is safe, I'm gonna get my ride dynoed this week NA then some basic mods and VAFC2....
