Deleting the IC + Piping on Sf kit okay?
Hey,
I'll probably be buying 18sec1/4's SF kit soon.
I tried searching but this questions seems like the opposite of what everyone asks about.
I want to install the kit WITHOUT the IC and the piping.
Will I need new piping made to fill in any gaps left by deleteing the IC + piping? Or will it install fine?
I have an auto LX and plan on just keeping it at a safe 5psi.
Just want something better than stock power for cheap; don't care for the IC or bov or mbc or things like that. Ill get a tranny cooler with it and thats it.
Also I just wanted to recomfirm what 18sec told me. I have to use the fuel kit included with the Sf kit? No way around it eh?
Thanks

ok.........if you are buying his entire kit, then why not put on the Intercooler ??????
Yes you can run it w/o the Intercooler and you will need to get a new pipe made up to go from the compressor housing to the TB......unless some magical way you may get it to fit using the pieces, but i doubt it.
If you are gonna run with no IC...... i suggest not going over 4-5 psi ever !!!!!!!!!!
And yes you will need to use the fuel system no matter what.
Also, you will need to install the BOV.
If you want some more power over stock for cheap, i suggest n2o.

your prolly gona have to have new pipes made, its a completely different route. just use the ic its a lot better on the engine.
mite wana get a t/c as well as the cooler if u want ur tranny to last
also a bov is very useful to keep air from going back into the turbo and w/o the mbc ur gona have no control over that "5psi" boost controller controls the boost, hence the name
yes use the fuel system, otherwise there goes ur engine, SF kit comes with that stuff for a reason, use it

I'd prefer to have a little boost all the time than to shoot and refill a tank of nitrous once in a while.
Sorry I didn't realize that the kit already comes with a blow off valve.
So I guess I'm going to have to see how much piping is going to cost. If its going to cost me more than the amount I get from selling the IC and piping, I'll just install the intercooler.
Why don't I want to use the IC?
The IC installation requires some metal bending and cutting of the bumpers.
Well, I am for sure getting a new car at the end of the year and don't want to deform it so much. I'm not sure if I'm giving it to my parents or if I'm selling it. If its going to be sold and say a buyer remembers seeing my car with a big SF in front, I'll be lucky to even get an offer for the car =P
Why a turbo if I'm buying a new car?
I have over 6 months to go before I get a car. So the kit is going to be resold in 6 months and I'll more than make up for the loss by then.

the metal bending is nothing at all........all it is is a lip that gets bent back, doesn't harm the car at all. Yes you will have to cut part of the stock bumper.
I still say you should stick with just n2o.

why go through all this trouble just to sell the car in 6months. 6months isnt that long in the scheme of things. So why waste monet on the turbo if you just gonna sell it. Plus i wouldnt buy a car from someone that had a turbo on it without an IC.

Okay guys thanks for the good info and advice.
I'm going to have to really think hard about this plan.
6 months is a LONG WAIT when you know what you're going to be getting and its on your mind constantly! I'll be getting an STI or an EVO, so as you can see, I'm already itching for the turbo =P

if your going to sell a auto LX keep it stock. if it was a dx manual or even an ex manual you could turbo and mod it out and be able to sell it on a performance basis and loose little to no money if your lucky. no one is looking for a 'fast' lx auto civic.
