I was talking to someone and they said that it might be differenet sizes. And if it was, maybe it was because of vtec so the ex might need a bigger pan? Not for sure, but if its not a problem then i hope the lx pan will bolt up.

I dont believe its different. I'd call honda to see if there is a difference. The lx and ex use the same amount of oil, so there would not need to be a bigger pan.

hhhmmmm........ There are diferent part #'s. I guess they are different. Sam, I guess you have to get the fitting off the lx pan or get the fitting for your pan.

I take it that you have to send your oil pan to the seller?????? Well if so, your pan would be worthless to him. You are gonna have to drill and tap your stock pan. Call SF or PM Catalyst and see if they will sell you a oil pan fitting for you oil pan.

btw, i wonder why honda made 2 different oil pans

no the other guy sent me his pan along with the turbo kit i bought. I can just go to a hardware store and match up a fitting or get the shop to cut the old fitting off the other pan and weld it to mine.

you cannot use the old fitting........you cannot weld aluminum to steel like that. You can go to a hardware store and make you own, but i would just buy one from SF.

Holy misinformation, batman!

First off, oil does have something to do with your head as well as the block. You don't think that oil lubricates the head as well?

Second, ex and lx,dx do not use the same amount of oil. EX uses 3.7 qts, LX, DX both use 3.4 qts.

Third, a muffler shop should be capable of tig welding an aluminum fitting into an aluminum oil pan (assuming that the oil pan is, in fact, aluminum-I am not sure either way.) You just need to find an aluminum male fitting that is the same size as the return flange on the turbo.

Sam-The part numbers are different and by the comparison of the two pans in the drawing, they seem to be different pans. Don't use the lx pan you got. Just pull yours and get a fitting on it or order a new one. We're still on for Sunday so get that **** knocked out. It's not as big of a deal as you think so don't sweat it too much bro. Call if you need anything.
