Swap AND FI

Just wondering since i'm going to be doing this when i get my car paid off but has anyone in here done a k24 with a k20 head swap and turboed it yet?

Anyone have a good guess at what i'd be getting into for price. My best guess would be around $20,000 for:

k24 block sleeved(possible with larger diam. sleeves than stock)
k20a2 head ported polished
Turbonetics T3/4 Turbo
blah blah blah....TB, return fuel system, N2O, valves & springs, all electronics...the works

I'd like to get 400-500 on 94 octane and 650+ on race gas and with the N20.

I've asked about AWD before but i've come to the conclusion that that would be too much extra money. But i am getting more serious about this install since i'm coming very close to paying off my car. I was also thinking about a refi on my rental properties and just taking out some extra money. but anyways...

Any guesses on cost and where to get it done? DH maybe?

Wow, if you have 20k to throw around why don't you buy a different car?

I'd buy an EG hatch and throw a k20 in that then turbo it. Now that would be a rediculous setup! BTW if you don't know hasport has mounts available to drop the k20 in an EG.

I know you probably mean well but could you please only respond to what i've asked. If i wanted a different car then i'd buy a different car. That isnt the problem. I already have a 93 civic DX which i believe is one of the lightest curb weight civic buit.
I like my 2002 civic. I've already spent over 22,000 on it (over and above the sticker price). AND i've invested alot of time into it. So please, nobody else tell me to get a different car.
Personally, i think the Hatbacks are butt ugly.

Relax man. This post sounds the same as all of the other posts about k24 block/k20 head. It's been covered many times. Nobody has done this on this forum.

There are quite a few members with the straight k20 swap and I think a few are actually boosted too.

Since no one else is responding. Here's some estimations :

Block Sleeving and bore: $950
Block build: $2000
Fully built head with cams: $2000 +
Port and Polish: $750 +
Convert to return fuel system: $500
AEM EMS: $1400 +
Turbo kit: $3000 + (depends which one you pick)
3 hrs for tuning: $400

k24 block: ? (cant be more than $1000)
k20 head: ?
k20 tranny: ?
Hasport harness: ?
Labor for swap: ? (depends who does it could be up to $2000)

You are probably pretty close with your 20k estimate considering all of the miscellaneous stuff you will need. Plus you have to wait for hasport to release their k24 mounts for us. I didn't include anything for traction, which you will need to worry about. Slicks, traction bars, and a good suspension setup for drag (assuming thats what it will be used for). These are rough estimates please take them as such. Anyone else care to correct me or offer more advice. BTW this would be a killer setup good luck.

Labor = I would say get to know your car and do it your damn self. imp:

Otherwise - Turbo install is anywhere from 500+ Engine install is anywhere from 500+

So labor wise you could save yourself alot of money; and get yourself a new shirt and take your girlfriend out to dinner.

LOL thanks guys. Especiallyrice rocketeer. I'm glad you're so concerned about my girlfirend hahah. I'll tell her about that. She'll appreciate it.

I'd rather have someone do the install professionally. It's worth the money to me to save the time. Personally I'm booked up for about 2 months with home improvements and some other things.

So, anyone know a good place "relatively close" to ohio. maybe PA or east coast area. Dont really want to take it to Cali. I'd like to be able to drive it then take a plane back or Greyhound

My project so far:

k24 block: $400
k20a2 head: $600
Wrecked SI doner car: $2000

I'm still waiting on information and mounts to finish it up. I am really waiting on Brain G. to document the swap because I dont know which pistons/crank to use because the k24 block is not used to seeing high rpms like the k20 head would. Plus mine will be all motor and will not only be a drag car. I will be having a shop do that swap due to the lack of tools I have, but I will document putting the engine togather if anyone cares to see it.

if he wanted to buy a different faster car, im sure he would have, im with this guy when people say why didnt u buy the fast car in the first place, honestly, i like my fuggin honda, and yes i would swap an engine in there with the money, but just because i want a different engine doesnt mean i should have bought that car in the first place. my car is awesome, it just needs some more speed now, and thats for swap

in short, 7thgeners dont swap their cars because of compensation for a faster one, they swap it because they like their cars, but their just to slow, so the problem becomes fixed with swap or FI.

You don't have to tell me that I own a swapped car lol. IMO if I could come up with 20k just like that I think I'd start with a different platform. To each his own.

The block was from an accord that had over heated. The pistons, crank, and gaskets were pretty much gone but like I care, I am going to have to replace them anyways. The head I got from a junkyard down where I live. Swap are not common down in my neck of the woods, therefore junkyards do not know what to charge for the parts. BLING! =p
