For those with Return Fuel Systems

Has anyone with upgraded fuel lines, bigger fuel pump and a return fuel system noticed this:
When I prime the fuel pump (turn the ignitiion to the "on" position) and I hear it kick on, the fuel pressure on my gauge goes up. However, as soon as the fuel pump kicks off the pressure drops right back to zero. I checked system for leaks or anything of that nature and have found none. The car also holds and raises pressure while driving/boosting

My setup does a similar thing. Except, I am still smelling fuel (bad) when the car is running. Its coming from the tank area, which sucks because I don't have any leaks. I'm guessing either the black ring isn't sealing properly, or my return plug is leaking vapors....I have to order a new filter and fix it. BTW, how did you fabricate your fitting in your fuel filter?

well good news for you guys

My car used to smell like gas too when I would run it....it got to where I would get a headache everytime I drove it.....the reason is, ya ready for this.....
The top of the gas tank, under the seat, is not sealed....you need to go back and make sure that it is really tight and sealed. I had to use a flathead screwdriver and a hammer to really tighten it down. Make sure it is not cross-threaded too....

Two weeks later.....
No more headaches, no more gas smell.....
Drink to that?

I actually usd duct tape to seal it because whenever someone sits on it - the seal would come apart. I believe (if the filter assembly is sealed properly) that the only other thing it could be is that when the fuel is dumped into the tank it splashes around so much that it causes a lot of vapors....I am going to try and put a hose onto my return fitting, and extend it into the tank, so that its under the fuel, and there is a lot less splashing......
