want to put on V-tec head
ok, now i know everyone has heard about putting a v-tec head on a non v-tec motor, and its supposed to do great things..well, i have a relatively stock DX,and this is sounding pretty appealling to me, i dont want to do a complete swap... and basically my question is , has anyone here done it? if so, what head,or better yet, what motor did the head come off of?? what all had to be done to get it to work properly?? was there any additional parts that were needed to be bought?? any and all information will help me out greatly... much obliged.
they're all gonna laugh at me
ok, i know it does sound funny.. its just like this, i havent driven or seen my car in the last 12 months.. you see im in Iraq, and it ****ing sucks, all i do on my time off is look in magazines coming up with new ideas, many have come and gone. my car is still sitting in germany ( where im stationed ) with only 2100 miles on it, i have plenty of money, but dont want a full motor swap, and am unsure about forced induction, i have always known about the possibility of changing out heads. and was curious if anyone had tried it on their 7th gen... and if so what results they had.. and just because the LX motor hax a 10hp increase over the DX .. doesnt mean that changing the head out will give me those exact results, what if i was to take a head off a older civic or another 1.7 SOHC v-tec motor, what results would i get then? thats what i wanted to know. i didnt exactly mean i wanted to put a head off a 7th gen, just to get what i opted not to have when i purchased the car. ... and i do have a CAI ( AEM V-2 ) .
thanks though.
thanks though.

If your going to do a head swap, why not just go through with it and swap the block too? I don't believe that our blocks can be mated with the older civic heads nor do I think that Hondata makes the flash for it either.

As far as I know, you won't get that much more HP outta the mini-me swap like that... You'd probably get more hp outta just going straight to an EX longblock.
But if you wanna try it, go ahead, I don't know anyone that has ever done it before on our cars.

Isn't a whole EX engine something like $700? Why bother with a head swap and running the oil lines, getting a computer and ****. For that price, get the whole thing. It wouldn't work as well since the compression is lower anyways, so you'd gain less than the 12HP that the EX adds.
But even then, you hit a wall. Its not like you can feel 12 HP, and boltons still do jack ****.
