k24 block

I haven't found a clear yes or no on this so, I will post it. I have a k24 CRV block and I want to mate it with a k20a2 head, is that possible or only with the TSX block or are they both pretty much the same? The only difference I noticed with the two engines are the HP, the torque is the same pretty much. The articles on the Skunk2 ep3 do not specify which they use and HAsport's website does not have the k24/k20 mate project car on the site. Also, has anyone documented this swap in detail? I am slowly collecting the parts such as the head, pistons, rods etc. Thank you.

they should bolt right up, but you are gonna need the ecu for the k20a2 head cause the valve train is totally controlled by the ecu, so in order to get the fullest out of the i-vtec, u need the ecu

You do realize the engine in the TSX is exactly what you're doing!!!
K24 block + K20 Type S head = TSX = YOU!!!

You're going to love this setup. Please, please, please keep us informed about your progress on this project!

This will not be an over night process by any means hehe. It took me a few months just to get the head, pistons, and rods because cash flow isn’t exactly plentiful right now. Although, I have not seen many members trying to do this swap, overtime I will save up enough money to be a guinea pig for this but by then I am sure the swap will be like tying your shoes.

You should contact HASPORT by email to see if they have any suggestions for you, they are usually one of the first to begin frankenstein projects bc of their mounts. good luck with it and keep us informed

Hasport is working on the mounts for the K24.

"You do realize the engine in the TSX is exactly what you're doing!!!

Wrong. He said he is using the K24 out of the CRV. Its not the same compression. And the K20A2 head is alittle different than the K24A2 head. Not much, but it is. The K24A1(CRV) motor with the K20A2 head would be the best for boost.

True DOHC IVTEC+9.6:1 Compression+Boost=tons of power and torque.

With this setup with just I/H/E it should make about 190whp and 170wtq.

Along the road I would like to boost hense the reason for the CRV block. Although, I still have many, many questions that have not been answered due to the fact that this is a 'breakthrough' swap and still in babyland.

Well, I am debating on which chassis to use and which can take some power because If I do go through with boosting this swap it will make a good amount of power. Does anyone have a DC5 chassis? I hear the DC5 chassis has very nice suspension capabilities. Or is the 5-lug conversion worth the time and the money?

Also, If I want my lovely power steering I need to cut some of the underside of my hood. Do I need to take extra precautions with the engine being so close to the hood like insulation or scraping problems?

Would a certain kind of piston head be better than the other because I am mating engines? There prolly isn’t but just to double check before I go spend $900 on pistons and find out this these suck.

What transmissions will fit? Just the RSX 6speed or do I have some other options? If I decide to use the RSX tranny then it would be in my best interest to buy a donor RSX for wiring and the chassis but then again I still need alot from an Si so it be better the mix and match.

I have alot more but I can't think right now. haha thanks for the help guys.

you can either use a base rsx/ si tranny, as we all would suggest go with a rsx-s tranny im sure you would like 6 speeds rather to the coventional basic 5-speed, and as for the rsx chassis just stick with your current setup our cars have the mcpherson strut system too, esp if your kinda on a budget, 5 lug to me is just a "status" statement, just for "props" and let people drool at. remember guys thats just my opinion

They make plenty of suspension setup for our car. No need to do the 5-lug unless you really want it.

You only need to cut away a little bit of the underside of your hood.

This is what Hawk had to do.

What do you mean here? Are ou asking about the head? Or piston? If its the head, the K20A2 head would work great. But remember if you get the K20A2 head you have to get the K20A2 ECU to go with it. If your talking about pistons, the stock K24A1 pistons will be fine. Just remember, even with a 8K redline(using the K20A2 head and ECU), the K24A1 motor drops the power off at 7300RPMs. So there really is not reason to take it to 8K.

You can use either the K20A, K20A2, or K20A3 tranny. It all depends on if you want a 6-speed, LSD, and how much money you want to spend. I've been told if you going to be boosting, than to just use a 5-speed tranny.

I hope I answered some of your questions. Keep asking. Someone here is going to know the answer.

It will work. But I believe that the engine will stand a little taller. So you will need to cut a little more than in Hawk's pic.

^^^^^^^Hasport is making a mount kit to make the K24 sit just a tab bit lower in the engine bay so you will not have hood issues. Well thats what I heard.

if you want a mean all-motor k20/k24 THIS is how it's done...

You get your K24 block and equipe it with:
-2004 S2000 crank (90.7mm stroke)
-Carillo billet rods
-JE High compression pistons
-Sleeved block

You get a K20a2 head and equipe it with:
-Serious cams (BUT KEEP I-VTEC)
-Heavy port polish
-port matching
-oversized valves
-IRL valve spirings

Miscelaneous:
-AIR intake manifold
-Hondata K-pro
-Custom exhaust manifold

With this block (If blue-printed) you will EASILY hit 375+whp with a 10 000+ redline... any questions?

if you can actually get this swap done it would be sweet. it will be hard though since its new right now. hasport is making mounts for it though, and it is starting to become alittle more widely known.

between swapping K20A2, K24 from CRV, and K24 from TSX... which has the most aftermarket support? or are they all about the same? also in your opinion which has the most potential of the three?

My true love is all motor. I have a CRV block atm and k20a2 head. I am putting off buying the real preformance pieces such as cams, pistons etc. and focusing on parts I need for the swap to happen like ECU(not reflashed yet) and axles. I have the same question as kelemi821. Which would be better for all motor 5 or 6 speed? I am thinking for saving up just buying a wrecked SI because I am going to use half the damn thing when I am done.
