Specific turbo questions...plz help!!!

I want to get a Garrett T25BB turbo and run 8lbs. At 6lbs its supposed to gain 56% WHP over BHP..ie (127x1.56=196WHP). This is also with many upgrades for the turbo system and NOT internals. And I want to run 8lbs. Should i lower the compression ratio, and how would I do that? Also, should I get a new clutch to handle the new power?, AND should I get any new internals. I have done searches and I am not getting the info I need. THANKS!!!!

i dont know if u should lower the compression ratio, but im pretty sure u lower it with new headers, the clutch will hold 200 ft/lb of torque, so you should look into getting a new one. and the internals should do fine with 8 lbs, but not for too long, so something might blow sooner or later

whoa, compression ratio is lowered or raise based on the piston being dome or dish and ur close on the numbers try 110 as the base bc thats about what it is at the wheels, or at least its right around that number, new internals are cool, and a clutch would be recommended

I don't know what would make you say that......

Also its called a Header.

Not trying to be a ****. Compression ration can depend on alot of things pistons, head gasket...........etc.

If you are putting together your "own" turbo kit I would think the hardest thing to get around would be the fuel system. People have done it though. Do searches and talk to them. Or maybe they'll post.

no no guys. Its a kit. I think it comes with a fuel unit. I really just want to know how i can lower my compression easily and cheaply. Maybe ill get a SF fuel rail. And also running 8lbs daily would really hurt my engine? I want it to last 150,000 miles at least.

how cheap u talkin, a new head gasket from dealer is like 28-35 bucks or so, but then thats not easy bc it will raise the head a lil and throw ur timing off, its not like u can just unscrew/unbolt something and make the CR lower

Yea its for a 7th gen. Thats what i was planning on doing is the head gasket. I can just change my timing later. Its probably what I will end up doing.

why would u change the timing later, the moment u put the head gasket on the timing will be thrown, i dont understand why u dont do it at the same time

...um...i don't mean to sound like an inconsiderate ***** here...but! um...the only way that you could throw off your timing doing a head gasket is if you don't put the cam gear and the crank gear lined up properly with the timing marks. just putting in a gasket won't throw your timing off.

if you can prove that doing what you said will throw your timing off i'll believe you...but until then i'm going by what i have seen happen in the shop.

No wait, I thought of something. If you put a thicker head gasket on, that will make the timing belt tighter.. throwing off the marks. My bad.. sorry man

I could be wrong but as i recall if the head gasket is thicker or thinner then OEM it will change the cam timming SMALL amounts.

yea....I WILL do it at the same time. But does anyone know how much it will lower the compression from a 9.9:1???? Plus I think running 8lbs on a T25BB doesnt need that much lower of a compression. BTW...can I just use an adjustible cam gear to change my timing or do I have to get another TDC??? Ahhh!! just thinking about having to do all these things for my turbo is making me pull my hair out.

thats why bolt ons are better, and custom ones take more thought, NOT A DIS TO THE THOUGHT THAT WENT INTO SF,
