ct12 turbo + D17

I have a friend who blue one of the turbos on his supra TT and hes going to get new aftermarket turbos and is practicall giving away his CT12 turbo out of it. Anyway, how easy do you think it would be to fabricate it to a D17.

dont know much about the size of that one man, but it would be just like any other set up. need to get custom manifold and all the other goodies, but if i am not mistaken, it might be a little big for our cars to handle. someone correct me if i am wrong. if he is given it away, take it anyway, and if you cant use it, then sell it and save the money you get from it and get a SFkit like i just ordered

^^^ Actually, I think the CT12 is pretty small. Smaller than a T25 even. My best guess is that you will have no problem spooling it up at all, but you are probably going to reach the limits of the compressor pretty quick (my guestimate: 7-8psi). I'm pretty sure that Toyota was running those turbos close to their limits as it was (read around... a lot of busted seals from over heating). I think if you want to run 4-5psi as a daily driver and no more, go for it. After all, it's free short of possible rebuild. But otherwise, grab it and sell it. Get something bigger IMO: T25, T3, T3/T04B.

My T25 is great @ 9-12 psi. that turbo might be a little on the small side.

Yeah, with 12 being it's maximum. The closer to the surge limit you run it, the hotter the charge is going to be. The hotter the charge the hotter everything in the turbo runs let alone mention detonation (if you aren't properly fitted with the right IC). The hotter the turbo runs, the harder to effectively oil cool it (hence the reason these things have a bad rep if they aren't rebuilt). I think that it's not worth the trouble to check maintainance and try fitting it. You should take it and sell it. Smaller displacement engines (yes... there is smaller displacement than 1.7L lol) would ****** this puppy up. Run a T25 or a T3.

Before anybody says anything about "It was good enough for a TT Supra why not the Civic", the TT only used half it's displacement (less than 1.7L) to spool one of these, the other half went to another CT12. And Supra owner's soon ditched the CT12's for something bigger to run more boost.

Everybody seems to enjoy the SF kit.

well, man if you want a t25, i have one that is in really good shape. when i bought it, i was told that i had around 30,000 miles on it. the guy upgraded his turbo. if you want pics just let me know, and i can email them to you. that goes for anyone on here. oh, and i want $125 for it and i will pay half of shipping. if you want it, i will find out what shipping with be, and add half of the shipping price to the $125 for the turbo. i bought it and decided not to use it, going with SF
