Hey Catalyst and SFPower, I have the ACT Prolite 8.4lbs flywheel. Are there any possible problems that can occur when using a lightened flywheel with a turbo?
I have just been notified that Fidanza has released a 6.5lbs flywheel for our car. I would like to change to Fidanza to get as light as possible.
Basically, which flywheel do you think is the best for a turbo setup and why?
A. Stock
B. ACT - 8.4 pounds
C. Fidanza - 6.5 pounds
Thanks, btw......I am also getting the ACT HC5-XTSS clutch.
Thanks for your help.

I have the same flywheel too, trust me you dont want to go any lighter. Its allready a pain during normal shifting. Although having a lighter flywheel does make the engine rev easier, thus spool the turbo faster there is such a thing as too light when you have a street car.

It idles fine unless you turn the AC on. Its not too bad in trafic accept for the fact that it looses revs very quick, so you always have to "speed shift".
A light flywheel make the power band narrower so If you go too light everytime you shift youl drop out of the power curve.

its gonna be retarded getting a 6.5lbs flywheel because you are going to be shifting so quick it aint worth it, i stuck to the 11 lbs act one the flywheel will go and probably ruin your car.

I could see too light of a flywheel causing at least two possible problems. 1) When you shift very quickly you're putting extra stress on your transmission because of the sudden jolty movements you make with the shifter, or 2) the clutch will go through serious wear and tear if you're not rev matching while shifting every time in normal everyday traffic.
