Rep Power: 0 K Series: CTR vs. RSX-R
So i called JDMHONDAPARTS.com yesterday. I know they sell RSX-R motors, because they're on their site. but no K series CTR motors are listed anywhere, so I called to see if they could get one for me, and they have plenty in stock he said!
The part that gets me is that the RSX-R motor is 5800, and the CTR motor is 5500...just 300 less. It just didnt seem right to me. I mean, i know the CTR motor would be expensive, but 300 difference seems like nothing, so why wouldnt anyone just get the RSX-R motor?
I drive an 02 Si by the way and saw online some guy who put an RSX-R motor in, so it sparked my interest. Just thought I'd share.

Anyways, back to the subject on hand.... The USDM motors always are more I've notived. JDM is cheaper, even though its faster it won't pass emissions over here and it not legal really. I am doing a K20a (RSX-R you would call it... JDM) I picked up the motor a lot cheaper then its counter part from the slower usdm model.

Rep Power: 0 ^^wait, i'm confused. the motors i'm talking about are JDM (CTR / RSX-R). JDM is not cheaper than USDM, at least i dont think they're cheaper.
oh, and where did you get your motor cheaper / what car you puttin it into?
as for emissions, i know that the JDM motors wont pass in some states, but i think that here in cincy they will. i know people with JDM motors who have passed, plus there's ways to "pass" an emissions test w.o actually passing one.

Rep Power: 0 ^^yeah, thats kinda my point. I mean the 20 more hp, and i think more torque is worth 300, ya know? I guess i just thought the CTR motor would be at or below 5 grand, but i guess I was wrong.

Rep Power: 0 Here's a JDM 220Hp K20 it's bidding at around $3G's:
Here ya go
My point is simple. It took me only about two minutes to find this stuff. With some time and patience you can get an even better deal.

If your concerned about emmisions, buy a k20a2, and buy the LSD from the type R for 600 bucks. I mean given you'll be down a tad on power as compared to the k20a, but you'll have a emmisions legal power plant with a lsd.
And trust me, the pistons cams and intake manifold are not that expensive from the k20a. But at that rate you might as well just get the Toda cams, ECU, and a aftermaket manifold

Rep Power: 289 Or i can turbo it for you.
Right now i have a 2 door civic in our shop right now with the RSX-S engine. We are turboing it right now. Hopefully it will be done soon. That thing is going to be fun!
And we will have a kit available for the 7thgens with the K20 swaps.
