You can find Methanol Fuel at most dragstrips and race tracks. Should run $3-$5 a gallon.

Like I said and have dyno proof. Run 100% pure methanol. It burns colder and has higher octane.

Pm Catalyst he is running pure methanol now.

"Torque King" was running 14psi on stock internals w/ 100% methanol and never had any problems.

When running alch and water I blew my head gasket. When I switched to methanol I gained alot of HP which is always good.

So try what you want, its your car.

If you have time some day, Maybe after running your car hard, take a temp. reading off your exhaust manifold for me.. I'd like to see what kinda temps your putting out.

I think you are asking about the exhaust gas temp right? Lean causes the High temps. I am still too rich. But your right about checking the EGT.

Yeah.. I'm curious what it would come out at.. Maybe run your car hard on meth. and check it, then run it hard on 50/50 alc/h20 and check and get the differences. I'm sure if the meth. is cooler lots of people would like to know.. me included.

I dont like the alch. But I will try a 50/50 mix and a pure mix once I get the EGT hooked up. I will go on ebay and see if I find a cheap one. If I forget remind me again in a couple of weeks for updates.

You got it. Also, if you dont want to buy one, call around.. some shops rent them out or will let you use them. Try the place where you got yoru dyno, I'm sure they have one there.

Dude what are you thinking? Methanol is methanol, not anything else. I wouldn't experiment with your car like that. If I do run water it will be at 8psi. Above that I will only run pure meth. Like I said I blew my headgasket running it with water. it ran lean. lean is bad.

thanks for clearing that up-- I read this post and figured I needed a second opinion.

either way, I think I'll just order online from here, 5 gallons for $50, or maybe I'll do the monthly deal for like 3 months and stock up for $42/month. There's no place locally where I can find a better deal-- or just anty deal period.

also, some FAQ from Aquamist:
What is the maximum alcohol/ water ratio I should use?
No more than 50%, otherwise you will increase the cylinder temperature rather than reducing it. Beyond that ratio, onset of detonation is more likely. Methanol freezes at -96 deg. C, 50% mixture will stop the mixture from freezing at around -40 deg.C.


I plan to go no higher than 8-9psi in my auto, so I will probably do the half n half meth & water.
