Best swaps
what do you think is the best swap?
K20A jdm
K20A2 civic si + jackson racing supercharger
K20A3 RSX type-s
please share your thoughts.
I am looking to do a swap over winter
and want the most bang for my buck.
Oh yeah, you peoplke with the EX's do you run dual ECUs
1 for engine management, speed and tachonmeter
and the original ECU for power windows, sunroof,
defroster, etc.
PS with the swaps, will the air conditioning work?

Not true. If you want to do a swap and get your "best bang for the buck" Get the K24 out of a CRV and use the K20A3 tranny and ECU. You can get the motor for around $1000(which comes with the subframe and CRV mounts cause you are going to need one of them I believe), the SI tranny for $500-$600, and the ECU for under $300. All used of course. One of the guys on ephatch.com swapped the K24 motor, used his SI tranny and ECU, bolted on I/H/E and test pipe, and is making 170whp and 150wtq. With the K20A2 head and Hondata for the K20A3 ECU(to raise the rev limiter for the VTEC) you should be able to make close to 200whp and a butt load of torque.
ok, first i wouldnt get the K20A motor cause you live in cali, and you will never pass emissions.
Second, the K20A3 motor with a Supercharger wont get you very far. You can get more HP out of the K20A2 motor NA.
The K20A2 has the better transmission, and overall setup. On my swap, i like having 6 gears, keeps you in VTEC longer, and just feels great. Cams, Intake Manifold, CAI, Exhaust, and a Hondata ECU Flash can net you 215whp. Thats good for mid to low 13's if you can drive, and know how to launch. I think thats good enough.
The K24 with K20A whatever number is a good setup...but is still in early stages. HASport is workin on making this work, but it will prove to be a very tight fit, if it fits at all. The K24 bottom end sits a little different from a K20A motor, so that might be an issue. Plus, getting the ECU to work with that, will, i think, be more expensive than a basic K20A swap.
So, i would go with the K20A2 (RSX-S) swap and mod that. You wont be dissappointed.
About the ECU thing that you asked. You only use the RSX ECU, you have to modify the wire harness to make it work. I will have a chart up on how to do that in the near future, along with a basic write-up on how to do the swap.

We (Hasport) will have the K24 kit soon, probably November. It sits exactely the same as the K20 with the exception of the head being raised because of the 17-18 mm taller block. That being said, he K24 from an Accord, Element or CRV is a better deal, but not as fast as the K20A2 or K20A.
TSX motors will be available soon. It's usualy not long before the importers get their hands on them and I am sure someone has wrecked on already in the US.

Guess i am gonna have to go with the K20A2.
I wonder since I am in Sacramento, I could get a hold
of Cal-EPA emisssions board and see if a smog referee
would allow the K20A in my car.
I am leaning more towards a swap than the alcahol injected turbo from SF power.
I race a lot, so I think it would be to hard on the little D17.
Plus a shop up here said that they would do the swap for 800 to 1000
bucks. I don't think that is too bad. I could probably sell my D17 with tranny axles and ECU to the honda dismantler for around 13000.
Those of you who have swaps...what did you do with your D17?
Makea go-cart?

yup, the K20A2 is in my car. Its faster than i thought it was gonna be. I dont chirp into 2nd when im racing...i completely lose traction on my 1-2shift, and chirp going into 3rd. Its a lot of fun. Still some bugs to work out though.
what is that a K20A3 motor? I know that motor is from a civic hatch, but i dont know if the CTR has that power steering setup or not. And i cant seem to find a picture at the moment, so i will assume that its a K20A3 motor. Whos car is that though?
it dont look like he has power steering
clean job though!

So then the ECU that goes with the K20A2 will work my accesories. It will
controll my windows, AC, defroster, stock radio, immobilizer gauge cluster,
sunroof...etc?

Hey everyone, I found a performance shop that is going to drop a B16A2 into my 2001 Civic LX Sedan. I had the engine in my 91 CRX but I crashed it. And I hate my LX engine. It's shitty. I brought up the fact that there are no mounts for a B16A2 to the guy at the shop and thats when he said you gotta Mickey Mouse it but will fit perfectly in the end. My Engine in my CRX ran Low 13's and I'm hoping to get similar power into my 01 Civic. This will occur sometime in November. I will let you guys know how it all turns out.
The RSX-S or whatever ECU you get will control everything in your car, you just have to modify the wir harness to make it work that way. I will be posting on the boards exactly how to modify the wire harness so that you dont have to spend money and have HASport do it for you. Its actually not all that hard.
Good luck with that B16A2 motor swap. Thats gonna be fun to fit im sure. Guess you have lots of money though, and as long as you have the time, youre all set. Anxious to hear how that turns out.

Yeah, I have no problem money wise cause the engine is already mine kicking it in my garage. I'm just trying to save up for the swap and whatever other mods are going to come my way. The Setup in my CRX was Engine, Tranny, and ECU plus LSD. I have a feeling its gonna run me near 2500 for installation cause I know not many performance shops out there have even touched the subject with a 50 foot pole. I am more than willing to try this because if that engine falls right in......I say I'm done with my 7thGenCivic. I'm gonna keep it the way it is, fix up the interior, and I'm gonna get me some bitches and probably run high 13's low 14's. The exterior is more than done with. I don't plan on any body kits, spoilers, or anything of that sort. I'll take a pic of my car tommorow for sure after I get my wax job and I'll post it up.

The shops up in Sacramento say they will swap a K20A2 in for $800 to $1000
and not a penny more! I just have to supply the motor mounts, engine, ECU, tranny,
axles, subframe, and radiator.
