I need a definition of "STOCK"

i dunno if i have to do a search or not but if i get burned for it then thats fine.....well anyways here i go. I was looking to buy a turbo and it said not recommened for a stock engine. Now im under the impression that stock means no mods. Now if i have headers and exaust will that take my engine out of the stock area? Or will i have to do something else.....if at all possible can someone tell me?!?!

you will have to replace your header with a turbo manifold so you won't be using it anyway

If you have a header and exhaust, then you still have a stock engine, but aftermarket header and exhaust. Stock engine means no internal work has been done, i.e. pistons and other internal parts like that.

Bolt ons like headers, intakes and exhausts do not make your engine itself modified. You have modified the air flow system. To modify your engine you can do a whole host of things. Change the pistons, rods, valve springs, port and polish, sleeve your block, have a different head, etc. There is so much you can do!

In reference to a turbo not being used on a stock engine, I would think they are suggesting it shouldn't be "stock" INTERNALLY.

well im getting a Garrett turbo system. But then i guess another questin would be should i dio any modifications to my engine before i get this turbo? i dont need my engine to explode on the way to work....or could i just install the turbo and tune it to a nice psi number (if you have any reccomendations for that number it will be greatly appreciated.....i have a 2001 dx coupe).
