Anyone here try this? I was thinking about covering my headliner in a 3 yard piece of black micro-suede that i have laying around from covering rear seats to match ep3 seats, but now i have leather so its just laying here. has anyone tried to do this on a 7thgen? just wondering if its easy to get the headliner out of the car in one piece, and if all the dips and stuff made it hard to cover. any comments?

Rep Power: 257 Seems like the hardest part would be getting it in and out. Good luck if you try it. Take pics and make your own DIY for us.

Rep Power: 0 Thats something id like to do as well, the headliner is plain and semi cheap, (not to mention dirty in my car), i would say trying to get it out by folding your rear seats and out through the trunk depending on how much you can bend it without damaging it.

Rep Power: 0 In theory, couldn't you just take out the old one and use it as a rough template to replace it with different fabric? You could probably find something useful at Hobby Lobby or Hancock's or some place like that.

Rep Power: 263 I think it's a great idea to replace the headliner. I've been wanting to for a very long time now. I only know a couple things about it:
I've removed my headliner to do some bodywork a while back. Removing the headliner is not that difficult. Just be diligent. I laid my seat all the way back and angled my steering wheel up for room, you kinda have to jimmy it to get it to come out.
I was going to get a nice black cloth, and spray glue right on top of the old headliner. Making sure that the old headliner is as clean as it can get.
After I took out the headliner, it looked to me like it was really kinda flimsy, and I was thinking I would damage it if I took off the existing cloth.
Another Idea that crossed my mind was removing the headliner, using the existing cloth, and applying fiberglass resin. After drying, you could bondo, sand prime and paint, for a fiberglass headliner. (I liked this idea for the fact that it wouldn't get dirty. Just wipe up anything.)

Rep Power: 232 i would want a fiberglass headliner. but wouldnt you have to take it out. and if you harden it outside it wouldnt go in. and you couldnt harden it insided cuz the resin would drip down. thats what i was thinking until the people at gas did it in some car. that would be sick thought

Rep Power: 0 I've been thinking of doing this diy... once the headliner is all said and done, what to do you do about the visors to match? Just stretch the same material you used for your headliner directly over the original stock fabric?

Rep Power: 0 I just took my visors out last night to look at how im gonna do them. The way the original fabric is on it is just stretched all the way around, its not glued or anything so i was thinking about just trying to stretch the microsuede over the original and avoid using glue but ill let you know what i do once i get around to getting more fabric and getting it done.

Rep Power: 0 Yeah I did a real quick look over on 'em... what it looked like to me was that they were sewn on the end seam or something like that. But like I said, it was a real quick look at it. Let us know how it turns out... post pics. if you get them.

Rep Power: 0 I went for a ride before and looked where you were talking about... I cracked it open a little bit just to see what you were talking about. I didn't wanna open it all the way cuz I didn't know what was keeping it together... is it some form of clip? Any good recommendations on what type of material to use? I don't want some crazy thing going on up there... just trying to change it from gray to black.
