HELP - Transmission & Motor Mounts need Replacement.....What to do?
HELP - Transmission & Motor Mounts need Replacement.....What to do?
Is there anyone locally that can help me, tell me what I need and install it for me. I am located in Elk Grove, CA.
Is there a good fair priced garage that I can take it to. I refuse to get this done at the dealerships.
And while I am getting the transmission & motor mounts replaced......do you think I should get other things replaced as well.....what would those things be?
Thanks for all and any help. I am a t0tal noob and have no idea about cars.

dont replace the mounts, get energy suspension motor mount inserts, that is if u driving a manual transmission, it stiffens the mounts, but u still have to pull them , its not hard, all u need is a basic tool set a floor jack, and jack stands, but if u must have it done for u, as u said dont do it at a stealership
here is a link to the inserts, they just plug into the mounts, instead of paying out the *** for new mounts.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Energ...QQcmdZViewItem

which mount(s) are broken? I'm replacing my front one tomorrow...i don't know how well the inserts would work with broken mounts...seems a little iffy to me to have broken mounts, and just plugging them up with inserts...(wouldn't inserts slide around more?)
but it is easy enough to replace yourself....

Do not run the inserts I had them. If you are going to daily drive this car the mounts will make you go nuts in a half day. As manahoonie said which mounts? They are not too hard to change just do one at a time and use a jack with a block.

Re: HELP - Transmission & Motor Mounts need Replacement.....What to do?
meh!!!! did my front one today....the mount was completely broken...
the only trouble I had was I just didn't realize how close to the bottom bolt the subframe is, so i had to remove a plastic engine 'protector' on the bottom. once removed, i just needed an extension to reach it.
ALSO, for some reason, the bottom bolt was really tight coming out, and it wouldn't go back in properly...luckily enough, i didn't mess it up too bad, but I still ran out with my friend and grabbed a re-threading 'tap' set (one for the bolt, and one for the hole) to re-thread it and make sure it worked fine...(didn't feel like screwing up that hole two days before xmas, and having to get a whole new transmission housing because of me screwing up that one hole! haha...
but yeah, went alright...just the one bolt problem, got the re-threader, and it went back in just fine.
as with everything on working on your own car,,,
