Yup, just got back from the shop. They are estimating (they didn't even take the car apart yet), I won't have my car at least four weeks and there is an estimated $4000-5000 worth of damage. It may be more, once they tear it apart and check. This really sucks! What really sucks is that I ordered mods for my car before the wreck. They are just coming in by mail too. My Spoon Sports Strut Bar and DC Sports Tie Bar just came in yesterday. My AEM V2 is coming in this Friday.
sorry to hear. same thing happened with my sis and her solara.
she rear ended sum integ and costed 6g's flat for labor n parts. all OEM toyota too.
if every single part wasnt OEM, maybe the total estimate would be cheaper..
$220 for factory strut bar for v6 solara? wtf...

Damn, i hope everything turns out okay for you. I would be crying if my 3 week old car has to go through that. I'm glad that you're okay though. You can always replace cars, but not humans.
most likely they will order these parts:
OEM:
rear bumper, fender for rear, trunk, tail lights?, badging.
if i was u, i'd tell the body shop i will order the rear bumper on my own and get a carbon fiber trunk instead. oOo nice lol carbon trunk will cost as much as the OEM trunk but its up to u.
tell them u dont want the acura badges either, "acura" and "rsx" emblems gonna cost u like a bs of $20/$30?
so from what i've seen, u should buy the rear bumper on ur own becuz what their gonna do is order one from acura and have it painted. so u might as well do the same with a "aftermarket" bumper which can save you some $$$.
but remember, this is just what i would do.
goodluck

thanks to the Mod who deleted my post on this thread. My post was not a flame of any sort. All i said was that the bumper looked like it is replaceable and insurance probably wont call it a total loss.
thank you nor cal.

I don't know.... I'm thinking it's not worth totalling if you know a good place that'll do a good job (preferably a body shop that does cars for the dealership that's also given the dealer's approval.) If you'd like to know of a good collision repair place, let me know.
Because the way I look at it, it's very fixable. I've got somewhat of a positive attitude that the fix on it would come out successful. It doesn't look like the rear suspension was affected but i'm sure they'd have to align the car after the fix which would say all.
And as far as it never being the same, I'd hate for your car to produce rattles in the rear. RSXs are given so much better interior insulation than Civics, even with really loud systems the car doesn't rattle. If it rattles, take it back immediately. There are some things you may notice and there are some things you might not that you'd eventually ignore, but you'd know best. True it probably is not going to come out 100% but your best bet depends on the place that is working on your ride.
Last but not least, **** insurance approved places because I've had experiences where I got my car fixed somewhere I didn't want it to be fixed and it was insurance approved or whatever. They gave me back my car in a 1/2 assed condition and when I address the issues to insurance, the guy was backing the body shop instead of me! When I got my car looked over WITH the body shop, they were supposed to tell insurance all the stuff they needed to fix but only added the stuff that they could clearly see. Absolute highway robbery.
Basing on the estimate... it looks like you could certainly have everything covered. Good luck, and sorry about your accident, but unfortunately they happen.
