What brand and model do you recommend? I read that the radar detectors will soon be obsolete in terms of usability, because now the cops are tracking our speed with lasers and such.

they can still detect laser, but its just lot more difficult.

There upgrading but it'll still take time before there fully upgraded. A lot of the motorcycle cops still use the older k-band radar guns. The laser units are lot more expensive then the radar guns and don't operate as well in bad weather like thick fog...IE light particles being reflected by the water vapor.

The best ones is either the newest version of the valentine one or the new escort passport 9500i.

I like the 9500i because it has a gps location feature so you can download all known locations of camera lights and speed traps from the escort website into the detector and it'll warn you about potential speed traps coming up.

The valentine one has a slightly better range and tells you which direction the radar is coming from.

But these detectors are around $400.

I went with the escort 8500 x50...it has the same detecting radius as the 9500i but without the gps location feature and it sells for around $250.

I wouldn't go lower then the 8500...the rest out there suck.

On the topic of radar vs laser: I think I read somewhere that (like stated above) laser doesn't work in bad weather. I also read that laser also wouldn't be used from inside a cop car unless the pig is aiming through a rolled down window. Can someone verify this?

never heard of the window thing...i read about lasers not reading correctly in fog and terrain where you can't get clear line of site or under even terrain.

All seems reasonable.

The window thing might be true, the only cops i've seen with laser are the motorcycle cops...or the stationary radar speedos that show your speed when your driving down a road.

its basically fabric weaved in the form of carbon fiber. I re wrapped my A-pillar with it in my integra.

Similar to the way this guy did on this thread. The fabric is the same..i believe i ordered it from the same place as he did.

alright guys i need your help. about to buy some forum destroyer snow boots and dont know what size to get. i wear a size 9.5 in shoes (vans specifically). i have no idea what size boots to get because i always usually borrow or rent. anyone have any idea if forum boots run small or big? tried going to local places to try them on but they dont carry them.

thats the problem with snow boots, although they are suppose to be the same "size" as regular shoes, they are always gonna be a bit too big...

one of the most important things you gotta do it ACTUALLY TRY THEM ON. PERIOD. you MUST MUST MUST try then on before you buy it because you wanna make sure:

1. they fit (i wear a size 8.5 regular shoe, but i wear a 7.5 burton perfectly)
2. when everything is tightly laced up, try to lift ur heel. it SHOULD NOT lift anymore than .5 - 1 inch. anything more will really hinder ability to toe-slide when snowboarding
3. walk around on it for at least a few mins, make sure there are no bad pressure points where it'll hurt ur feet
4. make sure they are comfortable (very important if you wanna board more than a few hrs due to foot pain......and trust me, its worth not having foot pain)

do you think all forum boots would be the same in sizing wise that is? I spoke to a a rep at dogfunk.com (snowboarding sales) and he said that forum is usually on the dot on sizing.

ive heard great reviews on these boots and they say that is is like stepping into heaven hahaha
