Thumbs down 90 in a 50.. pulled over

well.. not really a street encounter

more of a short story

my friend is in a little bit of a mess (no.. i swear its not me.. REALLY!)

an undercover cop caught him doing 90 in a 50.. now he has a $295 fine and 5 points (on his G2!! )

*NOTE: for those that dont know.. G2 is like a learners.. once you get 7 points its taken away i think

thats not a huge problem in itself, the BIG problem is that his dad pays insurance.. and he probably wont be allowed to drive again till he buys his own car

so.. hes really depressed over it, considering he just managed to get his G2 a few months ago

anybody have any horror stories that i can use to cheer him up?? or maybe this just helped you out a little.. making that ticket for 30 over not look quite as bad

I can't begin to remember how I was driving when I had a permit... probably pretty good since I always had someone inside to make sure I'd reach getting my license.

I dunno what to say for him except it COULD be worse. Some people with permits get caught doing so much at once when they're a teenage, they end up not driving until they're 30.

same thing happened to me.
raced with my friends (is300, I35...and me - caravan)
this was a while back. but we were doing around 140 on a 60 street. as we were racing, me and is300 turned left on a street and I35 decided to take an alternate route. anyways, after we made the left turn, (still going around 140ish) a tinted green cav decided to join us. so it was is300 in front, green cav, then me. is300 decided to go into a residential area and we all followed now doing around 100 in a 50 zone. then all the sudden we come to a dead end and my friend stops and i'm like wft?? ... this isn't "joe-blow's" house!?!!! ppl in the green cav came out. a lady and a man. then i realized the sirein lights in the front dash.... i was like ****!! they were undercover cops. i swear i was gonna **** in my pants!! anyways, how it ended was they let us go! ... SH*T we were lucky!!

get a lawyer. write a letter to cop apologizing. swear to never do it again and never do it again.I saw a girl do this at court doing 98 in a 55 got it knocked down to 2 points. May cost more upfront but a whole hell of alot less later!

90 in a 50. What is he thinking? Just tell them that he could have killed someone instead of getting a horrible ticket. He got off light. It sounds like he should take some more driving lessons and learn the traffic laws. I don't feel sorry for him.

When I had a permit, I drove like an old man.

I hope it was worth it.

PS: And don't try to fight it in court please. You have no case, and we end up paying for your "court" appearance.

nope.. hes never been caught before

he has run from the cops before tho.. but i imagine that if they actually got his plate they would've been at his house the next day

writing a letter to the cop might not be too bad of an idea

anyway, sorry to hear about everyone else's tickets

bumdup... HOW DID YOU GET OUTTA THAT???

when they came to talk to us. i knew right away that i was in deep ****. my face was all pale (so were my friends) and i was drowning in cold sweat! all we did was be honest with them and appologized about a million times. well, after a while, a real cruiser came and took down our info and said we were free to go? i'm like ???????? ... i even asked the cop what? so i don't get a ticket? ... she's like what? did u want one? .... i'm was like nononono... thanks!! .. and we just jetted off!!

Why the hell was he 1) doing 90 in a 50 and 2) doing it on a learners' permit? He deserves the five points. It might just keep him from getting killed later.

my friend just started to drive. his parents finally gave him his mom's old car. A Mazda 929. it was the night before new years eve and it was abt 2:30ish. We all had went out and was returning home. He was byhimself. He was going down a straight road. it's straight for abt 2 miles. just newly paved too so it was smooth. i guess he got trigger happy and just floored it. all of a sudden he see's the blue and red lights behind him. He got caught for goin 81 in a 35. Somehow he got outta the ticket. Got probation for 4 mnths.

So he was going ~60 in a ~35? That's still not smart on a learners' permit. I still drove like the oldest of old men on my permit.

I've done my fair share of speeding, and I agree that although driving fast isn't safe, on some streets their's no reason why the limit should be set as it is. Around where I live their's a 35 that should be a 50, and likewise a 55 that should be 35, and for those of you who've drove on california's highway 1, the speed limit there should be like 30, but it's 55, ANYWAY, my point is, before you start saying he deserved what he got, keep in mind that not all streets are made equal, some streets are safe to speed on, although Illegal, while others aren't.
