2k2 LX 5 spd (me) vs 2k2 EX 5 spd (JOO)
I'm just going to add my 2 cents. I have yet to be beat by an LX and I have race at least 5. The last time I went at it with one, beat my friend by about 3 car lengths! I challenge anyone with an LX without N2o or turbo if you think it's faster.
You're posting numbers that are rated at the flywheel. Once those numbers are transferred to the wheels, there is almost no difference. If you want to post numbers, I can show you magazine times that show the LX with a faster 1/4 than an EX. But, that wouldn't be realistic, now would it? It's going to come down to the driver. The cars are pretty much equally matched.
Magazine data or Honda, developer of the civic, data? Hmmm...

I drove my friend's 03 civic EX coupe. It was terrible. I wanted to kick it. VTEC in a civic is nothing short of a joke, IMO. In a Prelude or just about any Type-S model, I can see where it can really come in handy. But I also rode in my other friend's 96 civic lx sedan. I saw hardly any difference in performance. I'm glad I got my car. I could've gotten an 03 civic like my friend's for $1000 less, but I wouldn't be getting leather, a V6, a 6-speed transmission, Side Airbags, Projector Low beams and fogs, etc etc. I really considered getting a civic, but knew how much I would be missing out on, and I am the kind of person who really sees not much fun in having a car everyone else has, if you know what I mean. But civic's are still #2 on my list for the price. With say even an RSX Type-S engine in a civic, I could definitely roll in one, because I like the new civic styling and the (limited) features they include.

the new tibs are definitely nice cars, but I don't plan on keeping this car for any more than 5 years, so resale value was a major concern for me.
VTEC is a joke in the EX, I just traded my 01 ex for an 01 gsr and even though I had a quick EX, 2nd gear VTEC and above in the GSR would destroy it. I have never on this board seen an LX run a 15. And how many EX's are there here in the 15s with bolt-ons? About 5-6 something like that. When I see an LX with a 15 sec bolt-on slip then I'll say they are equal.

Speaking about tibbys, if you live in Vancouver and know that there's a really nice stretch of highway (#1) after the 2nd Narrow's Bridge that just shoots straight up (steep hill) for about 1/2 mile. There was an 03' tibby tailing me like a bitch, then he cuts right beside me and i hear him downshift. Cruising at about 100km/h i down it to 3rd and shoot up the hill at constant 6000rpms, he couldn't even pull on me, but stayed a constant 1/2 car length beside me the whole way up the hill. After i exited off he does a weak blow by and i see his stock dual tips. V6 Tibbys are weak. I drive a Protege 5 btw 130/135tq ballpark of an ex.

Why does noone talk about the dx? I'm runnin a dx with aem cold air and tanabe full cat, and I hold dead on windows within 2 inches during his vtec, then i shift and it's reversed. That is with my friend bout 160 lbs. and he had noone in the car...
I'm not even regarded.....

if you wan't to race stock vs stock, buy a dx....it weighs about 200lbs less than an ex (no abs,no roof, no pdl, no a/c, etc..) in stock trim, it all comes down to the driver. oh yeah, you save 4g's to spend on any gofast stuff you want....
Sorry guys for Posting so ****en late... Ive been busy with ****.
Umm.. as for the race with Iamboo aka Daniel.
He did beat me, it was about a 1320 , had similar mods and he did beat me. It was clearly a drivers race with less than 15 hp at the flywheel difference.
Daniel had a better launch on me and was ahead by like half a car on first. then it was him just moving farther away (i dunno how).
I lost fair and square and Ill be glad to run him again, just for the fun of it. Good **** Daniel
As for my 16 second car.... we need to put more wrench time.
Cheers.

It's really close, but if you want to get all technical and crap..although the DX weighs less, the EX still has a better power to weight ratio, and the EX is also geared for better acceleration so damnit the EX has a slight advantage over the DX.... that by itself doesn't exactly justifly the extra $4k for the EX.... for that money you could buy enough crap for the DX to make it faster than an EX, but you still wouldn't have a sunroof!
