after a lil bit of business.. we decided to run [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/IMG] i wanted to prove that LX's were just as fast if not faster than EX's especially after JOO posted Too many ppl talk. Lets Race.

so we line up and a flagger comes up to flag us... i rev and hold at like 2400 rpm and i dumped it when the arms went down.... it was a close race but in the end, i got him by about a lil over half a car length... LX on top baby! good times robin... hope we meet again soon...

i beat showcase2k1 a couple of times...me havin the Lx auto and kevin (showcase2k1) havin an Ex auto...however i had an intake and he didnt...but i had my 100 soemthing lb system in my trunk...so im pretty sure that kinda evened things out a bit

i was just screwing with you man i always screw with my friend with an LX about the sunroof. And as for the VTEC (if you can call it that) we won't speak of that. i plan to get a real motor soon enough

And as for the carbon fiber trim that don't sound like a bad idea, i am kinda getting sick of my painted dash. Thanks for the compliments

the funny part about ex, are the features, lets see, lx vs ex, moonroof =ex = motor sliding glass moving parts = heavy, lx no hole in the roof just the metal to keep stability on the car in case of roll. lets see optional body kit = more weight, lx no body kit, no extra weight, hmmm theres more, but i think you get the picture, oh and the ex has less horsepower than the lx before vtec kicks in, also a very terrible thing, the less horspower has to compensate for the fuel economy before vtec, you understand and if you dont, stop believing everything you read in sport compact, import tuner, thats the fast and the furious world, youll never know until you do your own.

oh and i forgot those extra parts for the abs = more weight, my car weighs 2215 on stock rims and tires, no passenger seat, no back seats or backboard, no trunk weight, i mean trunk compeletly stripped, i believe this is better for my racing, and showing other 7th gens at the track especially the baby bottles, how about i run you without the bottle, ohh whats that, a 16.5 with intake dc header and exhaust, wow blazing fast,

i think most people, including EX and LX owners that own the car know the motor is crap, with or without vtec. Thats why i don't plan to keep the motor in there. If your actually proud to own the motor thats in the LX, or the EX, than i feel sorry for you. And what body kit? i got no body kit? i feel jipped[IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG]

Edit: And i don't know about you but i'd much rather drive in the warm sun with my sunroof open and my windows down, then drive around with no interior. A Civic is not a race car, no need to make the interior seem like one.

after all that debate I am still not convince that the LX is faster. I have a Canadian SI and I really think i am fatsre rthan the base model even if I am heavyer. It looks like no owner of EX are telling stories about being beaten by an LX here. Only owners of lx are telling stories about winning over civic EX.
Where did you get the idea that the EX has less power than the LX before the VTEC kicks in? I saw the torque and hp graphs and on all the power band the EX is equal or has more torque and power than the LX...

i have raced 3 people with LX's and havent lost to one, well i lost one race cause my ac was on, but i beat him once i turned it off and tryed it again. The EX is faster (not by much) than an LX with equal drivers.

I am just pulling this out of my a*s, but here goes....The EX has VTEC, and it doesn't seem to do much right? The fact is, the EX has less power than the LX when the VTEC is not on - that is for improved fuel economy.... but with VTEC on it does produce more power and torque. Its hard to tell if VTEC is on or not because it switches cams at 1500 and 3000 rpm depending on how you are driving, not high enough speed to make a noticeable difference. Although the EX weighs more than an LX, the increased power is more than enough to make up for it...it still has a better power-to-weight ratio. Not to mention the EX has a shorter final drive ratio for faster acceleration, but higher revs on the highway... that is 4.41 for EX vs 4.11 of LX (manual trans). So drivin by the same driver under the same conditions, it makes sense that a stock EX will beat a stock LX everytime.... oh yea, and the sunroof helps too.[IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/IMG]

Based on those statistics the EX should be able to prevail over the LX. It’s not that much heavier and most likely not that much faster, but faster nonetheless...

You're posting numbers that are rated at the flywheel. Once those numbers are transferred to the wheels, there is almost no difference. If you want to post numbers, I can show you magazine times that show the LX with a faster 1/4 than an EX. But, that wouldn't be realistic, now would it? It's going to come down to the driver. The cars are pretty much equally matched.
