2k2 civic SI performance stats
i browsed a new Car and Driver, and they had some track test nubers on the 2k2 si hatch......i was NOT impressed. 1/4mile=16.0sec 0-60=8sec. i dont think those number warrent the extra 4 grand over an EX 5spd. i personally got my civ to run a best 0-60 at 8.4 stock, so with mild mods, i can see maybe matching and surpassing the SI's numbers for reasonable costs. just my $.02
I agree that the car is as ugly as sin, but i think those numbers are a bit off. If the 99-00 Si did 0-60 in 7.4, then how can a car with the same hp, but way more torque run slower? I dont think the weight is that much to slow it down. I never did trust Car and driver with their numbers. Plus, ive heard that they already have plans for a turbocharger on that car. It might be ugly but it will run circles around the last Si.
magazine driver suck... the new si should be able to pull at least 7.7.. despite all of its weight. sigH. C&D also rated a RSX-S for 6.1 sec to 60.. now u tell me how da heck dey got that number????
cant trust magazine numbers

mag racing is BS. I can pull 0-60 in my Si in 7.0. How can it run slower? Its only 300+ lbs heavier not to mention among other problems it has. It running circles around the Old Si HAHA funny funny

neo.......im not some magazine racer, but there aren many 02 SI's on the street to race at the moment are there???????????? so i was just going on other peoples results for the time being, i still think its slower than the last SI from looking at a collection of times.............just dont be so quick to jump the gun and call me a magazine racer so you look cool................ive seen times from 7.6-8 secs, so regardless, it aint impresive so far from what some magazines have reported, which are among the few to drive it yet. point of he story....SI isnt winning my vote so far...

Was I talking to you?? I was talking to the guy who thought the new Si will run circles around the old one.
You just made yourself look like a Grade A
These mag people can never be trusted for consistency in their numbers. Aren't they the same people that tested an 01 ex and ran 16.2 1/4 mile? I just don't know what to believe from these guys...

the number is obviously a bit off. it can do better. should be able to pull a mid 7 sec 0-60 and high 15 quarter mile..
now I think the previous Si is faster in a zero to whatever (0-60, 0-90, quarter mile, etc.) but it should be obvious that the new Si has more power through its power band... so its 60-75 passing time is probably faster than the last gen Si.
ie: if you start a race from a roll of say... 20 or 40 mph... the advantage is with the new Si I would think. (more torque)
I duno what car I'll pick thgough, they both got their pros and cons. *shrug*

Ok, Magus, I know you know how fast the new SI's, I mean you've driven them...no, actually you haven't.
Actually...only a few magazine editors have...so how do you know they are slow as sin? Because they are a little heavier? Because of their final drive ratio? Because the torque they have?
Let's just hope the new SI owner's aren't as cocky as the older SI owners...

the only thing thats good about the new si is the interior. i like the stick shift mounted in the dash like on some porsches
the body look real horrable. it was designed and made in the uk
go figure

8 seconds. That's gotta be wrong. I don't care if it's heavier, but it will in certain respects surpass the old Si. I"ve flip flopped about this car. First I liked it then I hated it, now I kinda like it again. IMO it's got big potential and all it needs is a year to see what can be done with it.
