S2k vs Cavalier vs Fiesta vs Pedestrian

This was a great story written by a member of s2ki.com (mattH25) Thought it would be a good first story for street encounters.

Alright, so not much of a kill seeing as how the cavalier and the fiesta combined don't equal the hp of one of my liter's let alone two. A good story nonetheless.

I'm coming back from the men's ice skating (I know I know, but it was Valentine's day and the g/f really wanted to go) heading along the highway towards Ogden. We are minding our business very wary of the good 10,000 police officers presently stationed in the state of Utah. Cruising along at a goodly pace of 60mph our converstaion is disrupted by what could only be described by Fox in their new series "When Inbreeding goes bad." Our nice quiet night was not to be for we were suddenly jettisoned back into the 60's where bad hair and free love (by the looks of it between Pa and cousin Suzy) were all the rage. I kid you not, the only thing larger than the gap in this kids teeth was the tach poorly mounted in the center of his dash.

A quick glance over reveals I am dealing with a late model Chevy Cavalier that seemed to be equipped with every shade of neon known to man. The boy racer in me immediately sized up the competition and decided that with Premium gas being $1.29 (cheapest it's been for quite some time) and his poor excuse for a maxwell-house muffler that it was simply not worth the trouble. What happened next still astounds me. Lindy (g/f) who never..EVER.. lets me even get close to racing, I mean she even makes me shift at 4-5k, looks over at me, smiles, and says "Pretend to let them win, then show em the S." I had never loved some one more in my entire life than I did at the moment, but I digress. The highway we were one is a long straighaway divided by lights every 1/2 mile to about 2 miles. Perfect racing territory and luckily enough we were coming up to a red light. We line them up with his sister/girlfriend/cousin??? grinning like she had never seen something more exotic than the latest double-wide. I revved to around 5-6k letting them know that we were game. My tuned exhaust is equally met by what sounded like a pissed-off John Deere (clankity-clank and all). The light turns green and he's off. I sit and the light and slowly roll out trying to enjoy the scenery. I let him go till about 25 mph(perfect VTEC accel.) and hold till i can see his girl turn around and laugh....it's go time. End of 1st gear I'm at his bumper and by 8k in 2nd he knows he's toast. 3rd gear comes to an end and the little speck in my rear-view mirror decided to make a u-turn (If i was driving that car I would have just drivin it into a wall). The Cavalier is history (and god-willing that gene pool will be too).

Now it seems in all the commotion of the moment that a Ford Festiva packed full of disgruntled (read: dateless) teenagers happened to see our little showdown. Not being ones to dismiss an opportunity to make a**es out of themselves they hastily sped to catch us. I thought I had seen it all with the cavalier but apparently I had just met the high-po one out of the two. A miracle in itself that they had over 5 full-grown teenagers packed into that car I was even more astonished that it ran. In a bid for lighter weight it appears they rusted through nearly the entire body and got rid of any unsprung weight by ditching their hubcaps. I just turn my head in shame. Knowing the extreme potential of his finely tuned Ford that driver was not about to give up yet. I gently accelerated to 55 mph almost sure that I had lost him. Not quite, a red light stopped my fearful getaway and leaving Ford Festiva an opportunity for a drag race. By the time we had hit the light we were in a fairly populated area again which is where the Pedestrian comes into play...Back to the Festiva though. I roll down my window to examine this high-performance exotic (I hear running Festiva's are more rare than Lambo's). I happen to hear a strange hissing...turbo perhaps. Upon closer inspection however it was air from the rear passenger tire due to an extremely overweight occupant. I was letting them enjoy their moment in the spotlight when a quickly exposed "Slayer" shirt meant it was war. I start to rev the S and he starts to direct people out of the car to push.....nah but it would have given him a better chance. Light turns green and I dump the clutch at 1k and then stop, yes I just stopped. I wanted to watch this slug of an overloaded car launch. Welcome the Pedestrians. At the same time my light went green their crosswalk lit up. Foot by foot the Pedestrians crossed the street. Inch by Inch this Ford got into the intersection. Our (Lindy and I) laughter at this point could not be contained. In then good 15 seconds it took this car to make it through the intersection the Pedestrians had made it half-way down the block. Speed walkers...maybe Slow car...definately.
That just topped off a perfect night. The only thing missing was a camera to capture the moment.

Like I said, I wouldn't call these kills (except the Pedestrian on the Ford) but they are definately good stories.
