me vs camry

well im driving around napa and i see a camry roll of next to me at a light and he keeps creeping up so i look at him and he points to the road ahead so at the light i take off and i had him easy by car length i was happy bc that was the first race with new headers and no cat. it did make a diff. then the best part is when i slow down he rolls by and my friend said he mouthed "holy ****".

it was the model before the new v6's came out. so maybe somewhere in the early 2000's? good thing it wasnt v6, might of been a different story

yeah, i know what you mean. We own the 4 cylinder camry's. Maybe because we are way lighter. I used to drive a 97 camry and it is crap compared to my civic. what do you have an ex?

the mod list you have maybe gives your lx 4-5 more HP at most. so im guessing you make 112 WHP if that.

I am not sure why everyone trys to make uneducated assumptions about how much hp/mod. The truth is you just don't know until you get it on a dyno. You can say xx mod + xx mod only gave you 4-5whp, but it is a guess at best. Again, he removed the catalitic converter, so I would say with his mods and no cat he did make a decent improvment over stock whp (10-15%). As far as how much power it all depends on what dyno, the temp, what gear he is running it in, etc. With all of these variables that car could be putting down between 100 and 120whp. Anyway good kill

True, but a search of this site will show that any number of people have dynoed these things with just about every possible combination of mods. Over and over, it has been shown that bolt ons don't do that much for you. I think marcuse's estimate is accurate, if not a bit generous. The point of this thread wasn't to fight about the estimated HP of this guy's car, tho. Congrats on beating the camry. Anyone who is going around trying to race people with a 4 cylinder family sedan needs to be smacked down, and having it done by a civic makes it even funnier.

Toyota made V6 Camry's since the mid 90's or maybe even earlier.

the new camry's, 06+, are very quick for what they are. I think one of the major mags clocked their v6 with the 6 speed auto doing a 14.5 in the 1/4, and that's very fast for a luxury-ish sedan.
