Angry Jackin' Japanese!

What is it with Japanese cars getting stolen so much?? Blame the manufacturers or the idiots who steal cars?? I guess we get what we pay for. Mine got broken into last year, but they didn't take anything!! Had my CDs and everything in there, but all they did was f@ck up my door handle. Blah!! This is according to a newslink on MSN.com today.... (check out 2002!!)

Here is the NICB top ten list (in order of reported thefts):

1. Toyota Camry
2. Honda Accord
3. Honda Civic
4. Oldsmobile Cutlass
5. Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee
6. Chevrolet Full-Size Pickup
7. Toyota Corolla
8. Ford Taurus
9. Chevrolet Caprice
10. Ford F-150 Pickup
This study is based on some 1.2 million motor vehicles reported stolen to the NICB in 2001 by law enforcement agencies nationwide.

The CCC's most-stolen vehicles for 2002 are as follows:

1. 1989 Toyota Camry
2. 1991 Toyota Camry
3. 1990 Toyota Camry
4. 2000 Honda Civic Si
5. 1994 Honda Accord EX
6. 1994 Chevrolet C1500 4X2
7. 1995 Honda Accord EX
8. 1988 Toyota Camry
9. 1994 Honda Accord LX
10. 1996 Honda Accord LX
The study is based on total losses from theft submitted to CCC by 350 insurance company customers during calendar 2002.

I hear ya mine was also broken into last year. They tried to get my stereo but botched it up and broke the thing leaving me a messed up door, broken window and a hassel with the insurance guy.

Consider how many Accords, Civics and Camrys are sold and you should have your answer. Those numbers are absolute, and not normalized.

Yup, that's the thing. It's like people complaining that 80 percent of a prison population being black in a certain town is racial profiling. Then you look at the demographics and 80 percent of that towns population is black.

Those cars are more prevalent since they are the ones that are sold the most in the US. Plain and simple.

cuz...my theory is that Japanese cars are the ones that are most likely to get souped up, riced, and upgraded. So the jacker wants all the goodies. My .02

Correct, and the CCC's list is the most uesful, as it is broken down by year and model. Notice the only car from this millenium on that top 10 list is the 2000 Si, which as we all know already, is no surprise. 7th gen Civics probably wouldn't even be in the top 100 on that list. On the other hand, the NICB's list is very misleading.

yea how many 2001+ civics do u see on that stolen car list? NONE...
altho im not going to deny the fact that they might steal our cars, its just gonna take more effort, as for stolen wheels, thats another reason to get wheel locks the day you get your rims, as for me, im still looking stock... except for my exhaust.. but that is starting to look like crap now anyways...

Maybe the "key immobilzer" is a pretty good detterent. The list doesn't say anything about FAILED attempts at jacking a 01+ Civic.

I've said it before. This flatbed idea is by far the best idea for jacking a car. You could do it in plain daylight and everyone would think it was a normal towing.

Think about it. We live in a society of Instant Gratification. Nobody wants to work hard for anything anymore. Gimme, gimme, gimme and take, take, take. However, questioning the motives of the have-nots and the psychology of thieves is like pissing down your leg when it's cold outside. Sure it makes you feel better, but you still have **** on your leg.
