em2 vs. ricey 2003ish eclipse, are they fast?

so i was driving to my gf's house last night, and when i pull on a street to the express way, this cop is behind me in the left lane going heinously slow. The speed limit was 40 and he must have been going 41-42. So as my left turn approaches i have to slow down to about 35 and go BEHIND the cop before i can get over. At the light, there was this red body kit, stickered up eclipse up front, the cop in the middle, then me behind the cop.

As the light turned green, we were all going hellllaaaa slow, then the cop pulled into McDonalds, lol.

as myself and the eclipse drove on at the speed limit for another 1/4 mile checking out eachothers cars i formed mixed opinions about this eclipse. It was candy apple red with a pretty extravagant body kit, including a bunch of aem, tein etc. stickers.

He didn't know how to race. Id start giving 3 honks and he'd take off to a freaking red light which was less than 120 yards away on the second honk.

The light turned green so we got to about 55 mph and we took off, i started from 2nd gear. The car pulled 1.5 cars ahead of me by about 70, then he pulled the most rediculous horrible shift ever, and i came half a car closer, then he was just about 4 cars ahead of me by 90, then i cut it off and got on the highway.

he had a nice car, but dind't know how to drive it, when he shifted it slowed him down substantially and there was a huge jerk. He also never fully matched my speed before we raced nor complied with the general 3 honk take off.

Apart from that though, i got owned. Question is are modded eclipses fast? Do they have v6's? My pride was seriously dented this was the first time i was walked... gahhh!

I still have not seen an eclipse that amazes me but i guess with mods they should be faster then a civic. They have a 2.0 liter with 150 hp i believe

edmunds has the 4 cylinder model at 2.4L w/ 147HP and 158 ft lbs. but are super heavy. If he was shifting slowly/misshifted and still pulled on you that badly, it was probably V6.

yeah it was probably the V6. The i4's are pretty slow. I raced my friends i4 auto 01 eclipse with my auto ex. I got him off the line then he had about half a car on me and the he started pulling away a little over 40mph and was a car ahead by i think 70.

Both cars were completely stock at the time. I think it would've been closer if i put the car in d2 and not left it at D.

I raced an eclipse that was stock after I had my mods, I owned him at 3rd gear. never had a chance after that. But he kept up with me through 1st and 2nd. but then again he was stock. with a couple of mods they might stay with our cars I believe but thats the i4's of course. the V6 would own us easy.

the V6 models are around low-mid 15's ... I'm sure that's what it was.

Hmm when i was getting on the freeway with my auto shifting around 4-5k, an eclipse waiting to turn was able to catch up and blow by in a matter of seconds. He put about 10 cars on me in a few seconds. Seemed pretty fast to me and the road was slanted uphill.

First off you get *bit*h smacked* for saying "helllaaa"

Second...you drive a civic...unless you have a built up motor, swap, or boosting...your car is slow...no IF's AND's or BUT's

and Third...the only DSM I give credit to are the early 90's with stock turbos...other then that they have nothing that special...but yes still faster then a D17
