bolt on 99+ Mustang GT 5spd VS me
The more I "use" my car the more I’m impressed with it. So far it really hasn’t let me down as far as expectations go, and a perfect example of this happened to me just an hour ago.
I was traveling back to my place from a friends today after a rather long session of Halo 2. I exit the freeway and turn onto a main 6 lane highway (3 lanes in each direction). This road is super long, straight and only moderately punctuated by stoplights. On top of that it leads out to the unbuilt housing developments, meaning there isn’t much traffic and what not... but I digress....
As I’m making my way down he roadway I see a very nice, blue (almost the same shade as my car) Mustang behind me. The guy was riding my bumper a bit, but there was nothing I could do that that point due to traffic. While we proceed down the highway, I would blip the throttle to downshift; he would chuck some revs and surge forward a bit and so on. We pretty much both let the other know it was playtime if we ever got the chance.
Eventually the road opened up in one lane. I moved over and the Mustang moved in behind me. I took off normally when the light changed green, but kept it in 1st. I passed up the cars next to us to let him over and waited. Unfortunately he didn’t move over right away, instead he got even closer to my bumper as if egging me on to just floor it. And that’s what I did.
At about 6500RPM in 1st gear I put the go pedal to the floor and my car shot forward. 2nd gear came really quickly so I had to shift fast. My tires broke loose a bit and I felt another surge of acceleration as I laid into the throttle. At this point I checked my mirror to see that the Mustang has moved over one lane but was falling back. I proceeded to walk away from him in 2nd gear and on into 3rd. 4th gear came, as did 100MPH, so I shut down with 2 or so cars between the two of us.
The guy in the blue Mustang wasn’t very satisfied with the results, so he accelerated next to me and paced my car. This time we were at about a 50MPH roll. I look over to check the guy’s car out. Very nice and clean with a guy in his mid 30s driving it. He obviously had at least an aftermarket exhaust (had to be JBA, he had the JBA decals on his rear 1/4 window. It’s a local Mustang Performance shop that also makes nationally sold and renowned parts). Man, did it sound mean as hell.
I hear the GT downshift and get on the throttle. I was a bit behind the curve sadly and managed to slip it into 2nd gear and nail it a half second later. I never was able to make that up. The mustang immediately pulled a little with my front bumper at his front fender. It stayed that way till he had to shift. Luckily for me I still had 1500RPM to go. As soon as he upshifted I made this loss back and pulled even with him.
Then I had to shift to 3rd, where he pulled a little on me. I kept on it through 3rd gear, but as soon as 4th came up the mustang shut down due to a red light when I was again at his front fender. LOL lost by a nose.
At the next light I tried to ask the guy what he had on there besides an exhaust. He just smiled back at me and pointed forward. Unfortunately the light then turned green and he laid on it, barking the tires on his 1-2 and 2-3 shifts as he rocketed away. I never had a change to even bring my revs up. Too bad too, I would have loved to have run him from a dig. These new Ventus S-2 tires I got are almost as good as DRs for launching!
Anyway, this really makes me want to get my car to a real 1/4 mile track ASAP. I hate to keep guessing as to how fast the car is, but this is the 2nd 99+ GT I’ve beaten (other was stock. I pulled on him all 3 runs), I’ve also taken a stock SRT-4, a 97 GT with gears/headers/intake/exhaust, and a lightly moded E36 M3. From that I’m guessing my car is trapping near 100MPH and running low low 14s if not high 13s.

Rep Power: 0 Probably, I dont own Halo 2. I only play at this house. Im into realmachines instead, e.g. PC games. Right now its all about Battlefield 2. BEST FPS evAr on ANY system.
