total rice? or truth?
Ok so I moved to the middle of WI and its just junk out here for people actually modding there cars with real upgrades, I miss Milwaukee lol any ways.....
i have not seen one car with real work done other then fart cans. at my job this one girl that works there came up to me and said your muffler sounds really nice what is it, we got to talking and her bf I guess supposedly has a turboed Saturn. Well I see him drive past almost every time I work and guess what no bov sound, no visible intercooler and on top of that no spool up sound ever.
I finaly talk to the guy and he said he’s running 10psi with no fuel management system no gauges no boost controller no intercooler and only ceramic coated heads and (ceramic pistons)? He then said it gets really hot and stays at 140 digress for ET temps, now um when my pipes for the intercooler came undone I was running 1,300 degrees for ET
Total bs? I don’t know any thing about other cars then our own.
I kind of had to chuckle when she said there friend has a really fast crx and it has a huge bottle of nos but its not hooked up atm.

i dont know much about other cars, but the guy with the saturn sounds like a ricer. hardcore ricer. period. its a saturn for cryin out loud.
no i made sure it was ET tems i even said are you sure thats your et temp. i know it has to run hotter then that.
i have seen his car just not under the hood some magnaflow muffler thing that looks like its welded onto stock size piping, no gauges other then stock and a damaged front fender

who knows, people run turbo setups without intercoolers all the time, and he might be running a diverter valve instead of a BOV, don't laugh at the saturns man, there is a saturn club around here that has some serious cars in it (turbo, supercharged etc.) and has given me a new respect for those cars.
Cloud be a sleeper, but the following makes me question...
Ok... so...
1) This car relies on its "naturally-aspirated" (read: weak) fuel system to support 80-150 more HP than for which it was designed?
2) 6 psi... easily workable without an intercooler. 10 psi, you're starting to BEG for detonation.<< Hell, you're already running lean because you maxed out the injectors.>>
3) Running boost without gauges is just plain stupid. How will he ever know if he's running rich/lean, high EGT's, getting boost leaks/spikes, or that he's even at 10 psi!
It's just odd to me... that someone would spend the money to take apart the block for a ceramic piston install, and yet, overlook the basic components necessary to keep a turbo safely running. Either he's lying, and has all of the components somehow hidden... or he's full of it .
and edit- if a car's coolant system regularly gets up to 190 degrees (mine does), then I could imagine that the EGT's would be well above that, instead of below.
EGT's on a turbo'ed car are usually above the 1000 mark, aren't they? Ask the DSM guys, they deal with EGT overheat all the damn time.
