Rep Power: 0 7thgen vs. Taurus SHO
So yesterday (Saturday) I pull up to a stoplight and start talking to my friends in the car (full ride 3 other people on our way to dinner). All I hear is a loud muffler (sounded like the car was about to die) and my friend in the passenger seat looks over and laughs. I take a look and knew that I wasnt gonna race this guy no matter what (not with 3 other people in the car anyway). So I decide to screw with the guy...I slowly start to rev my car eventually gettin it to like 4-5k rpms. The guy takes and follows the same deal. As soon as the light turns green I drop the rpms and take off normally as the guy spins his tires and screeches ahead and flies down the road for a few seconds before realizing that I never went with him. Everyone in the car has a good chuckle and a laugh at the Taurus that looked and sounded like it was dying...
By the way...what do those things have in them? It sounded like all he had was a crappy muffler on the back so how many horses could this guy be pullin, and would I have any shot at him anyway (Stock 2dr. EX Coupe)??

Rep Power: 377 depends on the year, i know the 89-92 SHO was capable of about 15 flat stock. for the most part they will be faster than a civic though.

They started in 1988 with the v-6 which was made by yamaha . If you look on the back of the motor you can see the yamaha emblem cast across the back of the block. The motors were pretty nutty and with a spcific aftermarket chip and the 5spd (89-92) they really found some power. With that chip they could wrap to around 9K. Impressive motors, too bad they were in a torus.

Rep Power: 0 they went from a 3.0 V6 to 3.2 V6 to a V8. They had 5-speed and auto options. They had the capability to be very fast, but unfortunately got slower and slower as the engines got bigger.

Rep Power: 260 I had a 91 taurus and it was a piece of ish. 2 trannies, replaced head gaskets twice, replaced rad once, 1 alt, 1 strater, 1 fan and host of other problems. And all less then 75,000 miles. I bought it used back in '96 with 45,000 miles. When it was running it was a fun car to drive. It was a FORD. I found out the meaning of FORD the hard way. I traded that crap in for my vic in 2001.

Moral of that story, you don't by domestic cars. You only buy domestic Trucks.
