Ok, thursday night I was heading out to UCSB to visit my g/f. Around camarillio, there was some HIDS tailing me for about 2mins, which I thought was a benz. The car pulls to the side of me and takes off... which than I noticed, it was an RX8. The guy was ahead about 3 cars and had a triball design underlight neons and his plates read TNT BOY aswell. I didnt wanna play, but he slow down a bit and waited for me to bite, WELL I DID!

Got next to him (in 5th gear) and he took off even before I can down shift or react, I was thinking WTF? He had 2 cars on me, and he turned on his neons. So I downshifted to 4th, got back next to him, we road next to each other for about 15 seconds and HE GUNS IT! This time I was ready, and stayed right behind him, from my 4th to 5th, he pulled about a car, I hit the rev limiter and shifted into 5th and was catching him, pulling up next to him, which he left off. I was because I was comming back and he left off . We did it again 5 more times, same result.... in my 4th he pulled about a car and some, in 5th I'd come back to about his door. Now here is where the vic interupts the action.

While me and the rx8 are pretty much playing tag on the hwy now, we end up passing a 7th gen (which looked stock) who snuck up behind me. While I was chasing the rx8, the rx8 got stuck behind a van and I was behind him, the 7th gen took a different route got around the van, had about 5 cars on us and turned on his flasher. The guy in the rx8 looked @ me like and took off, So I just followed. He caught the 7thgen and so did I we all kinda matched speeds, I was in 4th gear about 80mph, don't know about the vic or rx8, but we were level. The vic jumps first, than I did, than the rx8, I left the vic and the rx8 was behind me. The rx8 caught up to me quite easy and had a front door on me, I looked backed and saw the vic headlights about 4 cars back. I shifted into 5th and stay dead even @ his door till 115 which he left off again . There was 2x when he pulled about 3cars on me in my 4th, that surprised me, but in 5th I would catch up to him, which im not to happy about (i hate playing catch up), but def surprised me.

Dammit, I was soo close... it actually felt like I could pass him @ 115mph, but he kept letting off. We ran back and forth from camarillio to UCSB exist 217. In turn I lost a **** load of gas because of MIVEC. The guy waved and gave me a thumbs up.

P.S. Weaving out of traffic was just stupid, he nearly almost hit 3 cars slamming on his brake. When ever he almost got stuck behind a car, he would sneak thru 2 cars just to make it, I just slowed down and waited for the cars to change lanes. On the PCH101 (which is empty @ night) is the only time we did passes up to 135mph+

so an rx-8 would pull on your evo when you are in 4th, then you would pull in 5th? seems a bit odd for an awd high horsepower turbo car to not instantly pull on a rwd mid horsepower car.

Rx8 must have been an auto, I did a highway run with a ralliart this week and wasnt impressed at all, from 60-110 he had about a car and a half, which he gained from 60-75, but after that it he wasnt gaining at all. I was expecting the ralliart to be around the same speed as a spec v, i had a similar race with a spec v and he put about 3 cars on me and kept slowing gaining.

hate to be the bearer of bad news...but if you fall behind 3 cars in 4th while racing...the only way youll make those up in 5th gear is if the other driver lets off...

RX8 does not come with HID lights...

i was wondering the same thing, especially since he said this:

RX8 doesn't come with hid? Every one I've seen looks like it has em.


So isn't there an extra package you can get from the dealer?

not hey aren't HID. they are halogen projection type low beams. and normal halogen high beams.

see? clear lens halogen with projector type low beams. HUGE difference from actual HID

i was gonna say, i was looking at a retrofit of those HID's a while ago.

it all seems plausible to me. no holes really. even take two civics, one auto one manual, have the manual in 4th and the auto (at 80mph) in it's 4th gear, the manual will put some cars on the auto. if the rx8 is auto thats gonna hurt it at the high speeds where its gearing is poorer, methinks.

I was gonna say, I know HIDS when ther on my ***, lol. Anyways, it had to be an AT, we played cat and mouse for almost 45mins, i NEVER heard him downshift or any different engine noise, everybody knows if you downshift, the engine sounds REV happy. Also those 2x he pulled on me 3 cars, I came back about a car length and he would let off, the other times he pulled a lil over a car and Id come back to his door and again he would let off.

I wish I could say I beat him, but I didnt (came very close thou)
