B16 concern

I have a friend who got a '00 SiR. (all stock)

i got a '03 EX cpe.

we are at 5400ft above sea..

his best time is 17.1 and my best is 17.4

he is very concerned about that he must be doing less time..

and he gets very angry (in a good way) as me getting closer to his best time..

is this normal? i mean a .3 difference between our cars?

imho it doesnt sound normal......but your friend might not be a normal driver...just drive his car and see what you can get out of it. and let him drive yours....see how much the times change between you two...i'm curious =o)

17.4 is about 16.2 corrected so you're not doing too bad at all. I think your friends car isnt much more powerful then yours since they are both stock so I don't see why .3 difference is hard to believe. could even be closer just depends on driver.

Soon2BeGrlRacer will become famous soon enough
17.1 is his best time? your best time is 17.4?
For you its good, for him thats bad.

a stock '00 siR is alot faster than a stock '03 ex (I mean when watching the two cars race, in person, the gap should be at least a car or two in length.)
Ive seen and heard the difference of vtec from both cars. Big difference!
something's not right... let us know about it after you test it.

Just a thought... How many RPMs are you both launching from? I don't know a hell of a lot about drag racing but I do know that you can gain quite a bit in the first 60'. My guess is he needs to rev it higher before he lets it go, it probably needs 4000-5000 RPM to start making any sort of power.
Either that or you're just shifting way harder than he is.

Yokohama avs, I think hes losing alot of time just spinning/hoping launching at 5500. That what it seems like to me.

It definately has something to do with altitude, but either way, I don't think there should be a bigger gap between the two of you. maybe .4, but that's it.
