my civics not that slow

I keep reading bout civics running 18's 17's at the track and mid 15's with turbos and K20 swaps.. its horrible.. I ran a 16.2, 16.0, and a 15.998 in my DX with just injen RD cold air, and no power steering pulley!! of course I'm at about sea level, and its cooler air up here.. but even the guys at the track here run horrible.. maybe honda just gave me a faster motor huh? I don't get it tho.. I keep reading about these slow times, and it dissapoints me, cause with a K20 I expect to run about 14.6-15.0 considering stock type-s runs 15.0, and I'll have JDM K20, and a slightly lighter car.. anyways whats up with you guys and your cars?? just bad altitude and weather? let me know your take on it..

Its all kind of things. Weather, altitude, driver, and so on and so on. And the break in on your car and effect it too. With you being at sea level and it being cooler 15.9 in a DX with a CAI seems good to me. What was your 60 ft time?

Weight also comes into play. I know as far as i'm concerned...the weather here does not cooperate. It's way too humid and hot most of the time. But i'm waitin for that cold weather to set in and we'll see what happens.

my absolute best time was:

R/T ... .907 (fell asleep)
60' ... 2.387
330 ... 6.706
1/8 ... 10.311
MPH ... 67.72
1000 ... 13.444
1/4 ... 15.998
MPH ... 84.90

that was in october 23rd, at 7:50pm at new england dragway so it must have been about 45 degrees outside which was great for my intake, but I had real bad wheel hop on the launch so I'm sure if I would have launched like I usually do I would have hit 15.8 easy.

I dunno.. I'm redoing everything to my car, I put it all back to stock cause I thought I was going to sell it, but now I think I'm going to keep it for a few more years.. so I'm looking to be mid 15's mildly modded, and maybe a custom turbo will be in store instead of the K20A

you gotta member at sea level with low temps is basicaly perfect conditions. WE dont get that out here in So.Cal. Our normal track days consist of 90-100 degree heat humid and slick tracks. and our tracks are 500 - 1500 ft elevation in most places. I.E CSW is 1000ft so there you be in 16's easy with the heat and elevation. thats why some peopl post lower times. and other higher. but if they do bad times at your track then they are just bad drivers.

^ Same with me. I've run a 16.5 all stock. The track temp was about 100 or so and the air temp was in the 90's with high humidy. Good runs though.

i can run flat 16's consistantly where i go to race, sometimes very high 15's, like 15.995 and what not. So i consider myself to atleast be a decent driver...and im just about finished with my swap, infact i VTEC'd my way home yesterday from the dealership after getting my ECU programmed...it feels a LOT faster. I should be in the mid 14's with my CAI, and Exhaust. Only time will tell though, as i say, i have a few more things to do before i really push my car hard...but after those things are done, i will goto the track and try and get a good mid 14 second pass...would that make you feel better?
