Lost to my Buddy's Lightning!!!

Went to the 1/8 mile strip with a few Buddies of mine. My freind in his 01' ford lightning and i raced. i lost...

He ran a 9.0@78mph

I ran a 9.1@75mph (i had a 1.99 60ft time! My best yet!!!)

Well, at least it wasn't too bad! Now i know that i can hang with a lightning through the 1/8th!

I own a 2003 WRX BTW.

One of my other freinds ran his 93 civic. ran 11's through the 1/8th @ around 60mph. Not too bad for a 90 something HP engine. But he has a B18 at his garage waiting to be dropped in.

all in all not too bad! but my girlfreind backed out right before we left for the strip. I wanted to see her 2002 LX 5-speed make a pass. as soon as we got there she wished she would have brought her car. she kept trying to get me to let her take my car down the strip! i said "NO". hehe maybe she'll go in her car next time.

oh well, thought i'd share!

Haha, When I started reading it I was like WTF? Then you said you have a WRX. So it makes sense now. Good run. Sucks that you lost to a truck though. But its not just any truck!

Yeah my cousin has a Lightning, I love to drive it when ever I get the chance. I didn't know it could take out a WRX though.

Not bad.

If it was the 1/4, the Lightning would win hands down. It's about as fast as your car's STi version. The WRX can get off the line quicker but the Lightning still has more power. I like that truck.

From what I understand, Subaru's AWD system uses more power in the rear wheel at low speeds, and then the front wheels at high speeds. I'd probably still take the STi over the EVo.

9.0 is a $hitty 1/8 for a stock lightning. they should be 8.8's. and he should trap higher then 78 mph

what kinda 9.1 did you have? cause I'm hopin to crack 9.1's next thursday with a 2.1 60' myself!

nice run though!

Ive driven a lightning but other than driving straight its quite boring. I enjoy people looking at me when Im driving it though. But honestly, I'dd rather have my Civic. Its alot more sporty.

Hangin with a Lightning is no small task! That's incredible!

Just don't try him in the 1/4. It's a shame they never used the 5.4litre motor in the Mustang!

I still think he had traction issues like crazy cause I trap 78 mph in the 1/8 and out here they tend to run 8.8 stock and trap in the 80's.

No, I think they are in fact, both 5.4 liter's, but I think the setup is entirely different. I could be wrong, though.

Besides, I meant something a little more.... "affordable" LOL

The Lightning is a pig anyway. It would cost me an extra paycheck a month to fuel and insure it.
