My New Toy :)
Got this installed today. VAFC with harness. I will be dyno tuning when I can, and will be running the cord through my A-pillar and up to the rearview, so I can take a mounting bracket and mount it like a radar detector next to the rearview.

hehe
Yeah I considered waiting for the VAFC II, but I don't think it will really gain me anything more in power than the VAFC. It's more features from what I understand.

Dizzle, yes I'll have a before and after dyno, which I will post. Most s2ki members with intake/exhaust that get a VAFC and tyno tune, get an additional peak HP of around 10RWHP and 9lb/ft. But in some areas, like mid-mid/high range in the torque curve, gains as much as 15RWHP are being seen.
sg2kca, no I don't share, nor do I play well with others.
I sure wish my car was newer

Kind of off-topic:
Am I the only one who when they got in an S2k for the first time went "What the hell? Thats not the speedometer... dammit. I'm an idiot."?
Yes... it took me way to long to realize it was a digital meter.

I dont think the V-AFCII is available yet, not even for import. The S-AFCII is fairly new, but there are a ton of them available on ebay, unfortunately they are all imported and only contain japanese instructions....
The biggest difference between the v-afc / s-afc and the s-afcII is that the v and s1 are adjustable every 500 rpm and an 8 point fuel curve, and the s2 can be adjusted every 200 rpm and a 12 point fuel curve. Also, the s2 has password protection and a LOT more memory for data logging (kinda pointless unless you plan on racing for 3 hours+ at a time). Either way, sweet toy, and if you do squeeze 10hp extra from it, thats an awesome power for dollar deal.

An SAFC for your car basically lets you control your air/fuel mixture to increase power. Gains can vary depending on mods, but it's a great mod to get if you have a lot of bolt ons... since bolt ons tend to lean out your air/fuel mixture. The SAFC let's you correct for that to gain even more power. It's a cheap mod and can give you quite a bit more power and more area under the curve. It must be dyno tuned, however, so check around for shops that will do it for you and prices.

Thank you ...now, how would you hook this thing up and to what?

Well to hook it up, you have to make sure it's compatible with your car. check www.apexi-usa.com for applications. You have to splice wires into where your ECU is, OR you can go the easier route and find someone who makes a harness for your car specifically. The harnesses aren't cheap, but it saves you time, and should you need to ever remove the SAFC, you can go right back to factory ECU wires/settings, since you didn't do any splicing. I am running the wires up my A-pillar and adjusting the kick panel where the ECU is. I'll take pics tomorrow to show you what I mean.
Darren, I don't drive it often in winter, but yes it warms quickly and stays very warm. Even here in negative temp weather in wisconsin sometimes. it is just as good as a hard top car.

Cool, I knew you had the dx for a winter car but I knew you took it out on weekends and stuff and just wondered how it was inside. thanx
