Man this idiot has at least a 10:1 money to brains ratio that's for sure..

After he runs that 200 shot of BS his car might run times equivalent to his IQ.. like maybe 14's

You have some good mods on your car and such..you didn't make your guage pod..I found the same one for sale on Ebay a few times...you do have some legitimate good mods for godsake get real...

And yes...you are right 500HP SOHC's aren;t too rare..I've seen a few myself.. you take an old beater engine with 150k+ miles.. run a 300 shot of Nitrous..the car will sually make it across the line once..then fry..

My friends brother does it all the time with scrap D16's..he made some seriously heavy duty drive shafts..welds the differentials and runs a 200 Shot of nitrous into stock warn out D16's for fun..but getting a reliable 300HP D series without sleeving it..reinforaving the head..the Main bolts..the crank, the bearkings..the rods..pistons..rings..it's pretty impossible as far as reliability goes.. now for 500HP..it can be done..but it would be a race only engine that runs on pretty much Nitrous and fuel and very little actual air...

Dude wake the f**k up and smell reality

sort of like your posts?

i tell you what, why dont you post pics of your intake manifold, fuel rail, nitrous set up and these forged internals you susposedly have. THEN people will believe you, untill then SHUT THE HELL UP YOU GOD DAMN LIEING SACK OF CRAP.

Let’s see...

I see pics of an engine that’s been pulled apart, and adjustable cam gear, a $120 FPR, assorted gauges, crank pulleys (oh boy!), a rim, and a blurry shot of some generic toggle switch that’s supposedly for "NOS" (you know, my friend got the EXACT SAME switch from radio shack for his fog lights? $4.99 is a deal huh?). There is no way I can compare the engine internals to the stock pieces (not that half of them being too blurry to make out any detail matters ) because I have no visual reference for said stock engine internals. So, as for all the "porting and polishing" goes, people would have to take your word on it... which doesn’t amount to much in and of it self.

What DONT I see? Your upgraded intake manifold, ANY sort of nitrous porting what so ever, or your upgraded fuel rail. Again, these pictures failed to prove anything more then

A) You have had your engine apart, and
B) You have some cheap basic bolt ons.

I guess bottom line is that your pics proved you have everything in your sig BUT the important stuff.

I don’t see what everyone is getting excited over.
To further add to what joe said...

I find it ironic that all your pics turned out fine, but somehow you failed to "FOCUS" your camera when taking pics of your ported/polished head.

And since you want to go on and on about how your are some automotive god and know so much more about us when it comes to engines, let's just find out.

With the mods you say you have done, I will assume you have tested and tuned your ECU for appropriate air/fuel mapping. Which means you've dyno'd your car. So post some dyno slips.

Also, what ratio of air/fuel mixture are you running? What degree of advance/retard timing have you done with the cam gear? And since you now don't have the nitrous, you have had to AGAIN readjust your air/fuel mixture. Which also means re-adjusting your cam gears and FPR. How many PSI are you running on the FPR? How about breathing mods? You have all these bolt ons, that are basically useless unless you can get more air into the car, and more exhaust fumes out.

What kind of porting job did they do to your car? What method? Line of sight?? How about valve job... 1 angle? 3 angle?? Radius? What angle backcut did you get? Did you have the block milled?

How about your cam gear? How many degrees is the duration? What is the measurement of the lift? How many degrees of overlap? These are all things you should be able to tell me easily if you actually got the cam shaft put in, and since you are SOOOO FULLLL of automotive knowledge and know so much more than all of us.

Let's go hot shot... I'm waiting to hear my answers.

One other question... you also said you were going to run a really high compression ratio. You claimed that some hondas even run 14.7:1 or 15:1.

Are you nuts?

You say your car will be totally street daily driven... All motor 8 class drag racing cars using race fuel go to 13:1 or maybe even 15:1. But even then, anything above 14:1 is almost impossible to do on any type of gas, let alone pump gas, without causing detonation. You will never get 14:1 on pump gas. And even using race gas at that compression, you will have detonation and have to constantly do maintenance and repairs.

The thermal efficiency increase that occurs from raising the compression improves BSFC (Brake Specific Fuel Consumption). This is the measure of an engine's thermal efficiency in pounds of fuel per horsepower per hour. The proportional gain falls off drastically once you go above 14:1, making it basically impossible to run detonation-free, no matter what the fuel.

I'd also like to see how you are going to get your SOHC 2.0 liter bored out D17 to hit 10,000rpm. I know, i know, you are going to do some things to your car so it can rev higher.

One of the limitations on the SOHC setup is the fact that there is only one cam. That means you have large rocker arms and they are the main reason SOHC cars don't rev higher. And then you'd also have to replace your valves and valve springs. Well gee, that sucks, since you already had the head ported/polished, now you get new valves and have to have them do it all over again. And you also say you are going to knife your crank.

Do you even know what that does and what it's purpose is? I'm going to guess you don't. So let me explain it to you. Knife edging the crank is generally done only on all out N/A race cars, because the power gain is extremely minimal. (2 things... you aren't going to be N/A, and you are going for daily driven sleeper, not all out race car) The counterweights on the crank are given an aerodynamic profile with a sharp leading edge (knife edge) to reduce drag loss when the crank spins through the crank case. This frees up a minute amount of power to drive more to the wheels. However, removing this weight from the crank can create underbalance, which causes vibratory stress on the motor. This greatly decreases long term durability.... which is exactly the opposite of what you want on a daily driven street car.

Keep talking buddy.... and I'll keep making you look like an idiot.

This thread has been a great read, better than anything by Demming. I have learned a lot about the components of engines, of which I knew nothing. I also learned not to speak out of my as s, which will come in handy a lot! So, thanks to everyone! Can't wait to get the answers to all the recent questions.

Question: why on earth did you put your Koni sticker on your instrument cluster? Do you need to be reminded of the fact that you have Konis every time you look down?

BTW, since you are near Philly I'd love to race car with all its non-existant mods. That should be funny.

Clearly you know little to nothing about the VW 1.8T. 260 lb-ft is easily attainable with only a chip, intake, and exhaust. Hell, even just a chip and race gas will give you more than that...

actually i DO know what PSI that dyno was run on. The owner of the car belongs to clubsi.com and guess what... its 1.3 bar. Its also funny because he posted that dyno run not an hour before I loged on to reply to this thread.

Ok, query: How the hell do you consider a 02 RSX "incredibly fast"? Whoops all the other cars?

Undeniably the member here with his modified 1.8T is laying impressive numbers down. I don't care for Golfs, but power is power, and as long as he isn't riced, it's cool in my book.

But...man, if you think GTI's are incredibly fast (stock), you've never ridden in a late model F-Body or Cobra, have you?

How am I lying about the motor? That dyno shows 243 lb-ft at the wheels. Which is about 280 at the crank. And he doesn't even have an exhaust, which gives huge gains on a 1.8T.

Whoa, let's concentrate our criticism on black99vtec, at least in this thread

I see a lot of people apologizing, but I'm don't see anything ground breaking in there, at least not enough to go 150 mph. It seems you do have a port polished head ...but where's all the other laundry list of mods? Everytime we want to see pics, we just see the engine block and your dash. We already know what your dash has a tach, please post pics of your internals.

I was expecting something exciting under the hood but I see a lot of stock stuff to me.

-Aki

ps- yes, pics don't lie, people do
