Bump and Run
Bump and Run
hey everyone, i got hit today in the parking lot. let me ask.... how stupid can you be to hit a parked car? anyways it wasnt bad enough to make the bumper loose, just a big dent and scratched up pretty good. i called my insurance company and they said the first step was to get an estimate at a body shop so in the morning i will stop by to see what they say... im attaching a picture for you all to see. just in case any of you have had a similiar dent fixed. im just wondering if i should let the body shop fix it or if i could get enough $$ to just buy an aftermarket bumper. anyways thanks for lisenting to me ramble.

You know that you could just pop that out yourself. I did it to my car and my dent was bigger than yours. I backed up and hit this one foot tall block of cement.
Now i just gotta fix that cut it put into my bumper and paint it.

The thing I hate about these new federal bumper standards is that they've made the bumpers basically disposable. If anything hits the bumper, it just folds in on itself, scratches to heck and you have to go and get a new one. Thats one reason I loved my old Nissan, it had foam filled bumpers that were solid. I accidentally backed into the basket ball pole in my driveway (in the dark, black pole, hard to see) and didn't do a darn thing to the car. Not even a scratch. If it happened with these new bumpers, I'd probably be taking it to the body shop for a bumper and a trunk lid.
Be careful if you try to pop it out. It might crack the paint up. I'd have the body shop look at it while its pressed in before you muck with it at all. And I'm not sure if you can sand the scratches out and re-paint, it may come out too thin if the scratches are deep.

isnt your deductible 500? and the bumper costs like $500, i wouldnt even replace it. just pop it back out, its easy. just go through the fender well.
I have a cousin that owns a body shop but he doesnt live real close. i was just wondering, what do i tell my insurance company if i would rather have a check made out to me? if it were up to me i would rather just collect the $$ and buy a bumper or (add my own $$) and buy a body kit. i just didnt know if they are going to make me take it to the body shop or what.

the insurance company just needs to see an estimate to figure out how much to send you. they won't send it to the body shop. so just use the money for whatever youwant. this happened to me kinda. a lady rear ended me in my old beat up POS truck and dented my bumper. i got a quote for 400 to fix it, and i also had whiplash, and her insurance co gave me 500 for that. so i got 900. that sent me to japan.....you can use the money for whatever youwant.
Most people have a $500 deductable standard for theft and vandalism. Unless you specifically asked for a lower deductible and in turn pay out your butt for insurance, you're not going to get any money out of the deal because that's not even $500 of damage...
Pop it out yourself and go pay a body shop to spray it for you.
$200-300 tops
Good luck bro, sorry

Hey guys i went to get the estimate today and it was $530 and I called my insurance company and I do only have a $500 deductible so its just not worth it to do it. So I am going to just save my $$ up and get a body kit

my car was totalled and i filed it with my insurance, premium didnt go up 1 cent cause it wasnt my fault... what they do is they give me the money and my insurance company goes after her(the person who hit me) insurance.
