Converted fwd to rwd 02civic

I have a 02 Civic is that I removed the subframe and fabricated it on the rear end of a rail job. I’m having a problem with it bump steering. I made rods to go from each side but when the car launches it’s wants to toe the rear tires in. I can fix this problem but wondering if there is a conversion I can do with the spindles / struts to make the rear tires stay straight. Anyone know of anyways let me kno thanks

Nice work dude
Might be able to modify CRV rear spindles to work? But I'm only guessing

Re: Converted fwd to rwd 02civic

The CRV axles are probably your best bet because it's the same generation, the the spindles might bolt up and the cost would be low.

But this thing looks pretty aggressive, and the CRV is a vary basic rear suspension setup, meant to handle reduced awd, not the full torque.

The newer modle acuras and accord have a much beefier multi link suspension, much like a BMW. Though these to are intended for AWD.

Obviously the rear calipers for an awd front engine car may not be strong enough.

-if you must stick with honda, then there's also the front engine rwd s2000, not sure how easy it is to buy parts though.

Re: Converted fwd to rwd 02civic

I have figured out what I’m goin to do. I’m goin to 4 link it straight forward . 2 link on both sides. That will keep the tire from goin forward when launched. And I’ve got my control arms on the rear. Those I will lower to level at riding height and that should solve my problem. I’m goin to be doin this next week. I will send info on how it turns out.

Re: Converted fwd to rwd 02civic

😁 cool.

If you cant fix the issue then perhaps measure the toe in angle of deflection, under acceleration, then adjust the toe out while static.

Re: Converted fwd to rwd 02civic

I have nothing to contribute, but I just wanted to say that looks like an awesome build. Back when I had a spare D17A2 laying around, I wanted to build a sand rail like that. I'd love to see details on it.

Re: Converted fwd to rwd 02civic

Actually, just to stir up some conversation, do you have pictures of the rear suspension setup? Kinda looks like you're using the front struts from that 2002. Safe to assume the LCA for that 2002, as well? Based on your description, almost seems like more-or-less the entire front clip was transferred over, minus body parts

Re: Converted fwd to rwd 02civic

Yes I took the subframe also I just had to build 2 engine mounts. That way I can tag it. I have the title on the car I’m tagging it this week. Which imma have a set of drag clicks for the rear for drag racing and those tires on there for street. I have turn signals headlights and brake lights.

...you still have alignment issues, but you'll pass a VI?

You must live in one of those outlaw states. 😁

I’m tagging it under a modified Honda Civic. In my town it will pass. In California probably not.
