A future owner of a new to me 2003 civic

Hi i am a new guy to civics. Made a deal on a High miles 03 civic so Ii can save money on fuel going though my Jeep.
I should get it next week. VIN 1HGEM22953L.......
Every thing seems to work as it should. Is there a limit to how long this VTEC stuff in the engine will be trouble free?
Car a has 221K on it now. It has a had a trans (Auto) recently replaced.
What kind of MPG do these things get. It s 2 door, Can i expect 34 like it says > https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/...da_Civic.shtml
What the heack is this Automatic (variable gear ratios) listed and it showes a extra 2 MPG? is that a CVT?

One last question the seller says it has had a recent timing belt and water pump,....Are these 1.7L VTECs interference engines?

CVT trans would normally be found in hybrid or HX cars.
DX/LX/EX have a regular automatic trans. Fluid drain and fill every 30k (I personally recommend Hondas DW1 trans fluid)

Yes it's labeled as an interference engine. But some people get lucky lol

fuel economy is a variable, you don't automatically get whatever it's rated at just because it shows a number. You have to work for it LOL
. Driver habits, mechanical condition, and road conditions vary greatly so economy can vary greatly
